What do y'all do to secure your gear? I resorted to strapping down pieces individually. A little tedious, but doable. Anybody got betters suggestions?

Find a Yakima or Thule store and they have stretch netting to hold down gear.

What'cha carrying?

When I have fuel on top, I use several ratchet straps...when I'm the garbage carrier (no trasharoo yet), I use bungee net or cords.

In my bag of "way too many tie down thingies", I have 6-8 ratchet straps of different lengths, some bungees, a bungee net and some cheapo yellow rope.

I like ratchet straps, as the wind can be fickle and I don't stuff falling off my truck in the manner that it does from others' vehicles. You have to be careful with the ratchet devices so they don't wipe out the paint in your truck roof - I wrap them in towels or old socks, etc. to keep them under control. Tie down any loose flapping strap ends, too.

For the big stuff I'll use ratchet straps, but for little stuff I'm good with the stretch net. Like I'd toss a strap over a 10x10 popup, but then lay a couple chairs or a bag of trash or whatever right next to it, then a bungee net over the whole mess. That net thing actually comes in quite handy, have been using it on the trailer too.

Same here - ratchet straps, netting, bungee all get used depending on what's up there. Harbor Freight has several choices for stretch netting and various other cheap lashing options.

Looks like some stretchy netting is on the horizon. Ratchet strapping everything under the sun is a little tedious.

Thanks guys.
