Pulled my 8/76 California carb off today to send out and have it rebuilt. My insulator and heat shield seem to be coming apart. My question is what are some options? Clean it, new gaskets and run it? Can it be repaired?
Thanks for any input
Brian

You might try seeing if SOR has a replacement gasket for that. Or you could try scraping it off and use a generic carburetor gasket material cut to the right shape and see if it works. Generally you're not supposed to mess with that insulator plate, but in your case it's too late. There's lots of engines being parted out which you could grab a replacement off of too, if needed.

I may have one that looks better that you can have. Sor likes a lot of $$ for them.

I'll be back in town in a week or so, shoot me a pm if i forget to contact you.

These are officially unobtanium in the NA Toyota parts system, I bought either the last one or second to last one for my 4/76 Kalifornia spec 40. $OR might have one, but as was mentioned above your best bet will probably be to find a better-condition one from a rig being parted out.

I was able to work out a deal with Marks Offroad, he has a few. I got a call from him yesterday and apparently my carburetor was in the worst shape he had ever seen? He was amazed it came off a running truck. He had a list of 10 major issues that he would be fixing. From bent linkages that's were installed wrong to melted, drilled out jets?
Thanks for the offer Marco.

No problem! I'll put it back in my spares pile :)
