Matt has asked me to put the 2nd clean up day together for our Argentine Pass Adopt-a-Road. Hopefully he will chime in with a task list for us to do.

Dates i'm proposing are:

September 29 or 30th

October 7th.

I will be out of town for Outlaws Run during the week of October 13-21st.

Dates afterwords are possible as weell, though we might be running into cooler weather and roads closed higher up in elevation. If dates are better for everyone while were out in Utah, thats fine to.

I'll be watching this thread, I always enjoy doing cleanup runs on Argentine. As of now the 7th would work best for me.

Thanks Perry! The only things I can think of are replacing the 11x17 Rising Sun sign and maybe replacing the larger Stay the Trail poster, if needed. Kelly, the wildlife biologist, thought she could get up there with us to discuss the proposed road decommissions. I'll send her contact info to you so you can keep her and Brant up to speed on what's going on. That's about it, other than that, we just need to log one more cleanup day as a club. Look for hunter's latrines I guess ;)

What would the agenda be? Just a general clean up, or work projects like we did on Jenny Creek last month?

No way I can be in on the 29th, but the 7th is a possibility (maybe).

FWIW--the dusting of snow was down to about 11,100 today in that area, so we've got a little time before we get snowed out.

Jeff,

This is more a monitoring and trail clean up than major trail fixing. Easy day, but good country and folk.

Thanks for the heads up. Figuring we might not be able to get any higher than Waldorf after the 7th.

Dang.

Just got this email from Brant. Can anyone help? I'm out of PTO days for a while :bawl: :help:

Hey Matt,
We are looking at dates in Oct. to get out in Leavenworth to do some signage repair/replacement. We would really like to get things on the ground to match MVUM and EA maps so everyone knows what is going on…Would you guys be available to assist? Unfortunately we only have a few days available and hopefully the weather holds out…Do you think you could get a couple people for a Friday trip? Kelly would very much like to attend and she works M-F. At this point we are looking at Oct. 19th, with the 18th or 17th as other possibilities. We plan on going no matter what but thought you guys would like to be a part of it and we could absolutely discuss projects in the area, the EA and anything else while we are signing. If you guys could come up with a couple 2-3 vehicles, maybe we could ride with you, as in the past. Since we don’t really have vehicles(we are down to only one ATV) that can safely access everything, we would need to walk some of the areas which isn’t an efficient use of time. Let me know if this is a possibility. If we get a bunch of snow obviously we may have to adjust plans. Let me know, Thanks.

I'm available on the 17th and 18th. I *should* have the 40, but if not the faux-lux is always ready to go, with one open seat.

I just found out I can get my knee surgery next week, so after that I'll be able to drive and bend my knee again. I can do the 18th or 19th.

This Knee trouble and waiting for surgery is keeping me home from the Outlaws Run, but I would love to get out for a day and help out with Argentine. :thumb:

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll pencil in the 18th with Brant and see if I can't sneak a day off of work myself!

I'm going to start a new thread for the 18th signing date with the forest service so we don't confuse things...

Perry et al,

We authorized up to $150 last night for food for the volunteers for this event. The taco bar worked really well last time.

Also, see Scott's note here:

I'll be elk hunting and be able to join.

Make sure they look at the campsite across the foot bridge that I'm always talking about on the lower road. A few weeks ago we went to camp there and is was occupied by people working on the pipe. We walked over there since we didn't see anyone. The place was totally trashed. As in a messy construction zone with trash everywhere. Including fuel and oil stored near the creek. I was intending to report it but didn't. My bad.:o

Please check that out when you're up there on Sunday.

Thanks!

Will be sure to check it out. As far as food, would somebody be able to grab something before tomorrow? Have to work today so I wont have any time.

Cool.

Depending on trail conditions with the current weather, i'd like to try and get to McClellan. Want to re-create a photo. Also would be nice to get to the top of the pass, cant remember the last time I was up there.

Lame.

Thanks to everyone for making it up today. Sure felt good to get up there. And thanks to Matt for letting me take the 40 out for a drive, way to much fun! Trail is looking real good, other than Scotts campsite. We filled up a few trash bags. Snow on the pass.

Sorry for not being on top of the food part, hopefully do better next time.

Did we have a full representation of 40s or did Rick drive the T100?

Lookin' good cruisin' the 40 there Perry! :thumb:

It was a great day of wheeling. The trash at that site was incredible. No regard for the environment at all. Big pile of trash blowing and spread into the woods and creek. I, for one, would like to see those pigs held responsible or at least looked in on by the forest service. It's that kind of carelessness that ruins open spaces for everyone. I'm am glad we got up there and picked it up though.......it was still a great trip!

Thanks for getting up there and doing that. Well done!

So were the pipe workers completely gone? Leaving you with a big cleanup job? We definitely want to pass that on to the forest service.

Heres a pic of most of the mess. Looks like the guy is living there part time while working on the pipes. Yes it's good to get the leaking pipes fixed, but bad to leave trash. Think Brant should fine the casino.

Any idea what time we should be done on Thursday?

As in, think I can make it back to Idaho Springs by 3PM? I'm trying to figure out if I can help out a friend at work...

Dan, I think between Martin and I we can carry the 3 rangers, so you can leave anytime you need to in order to get back! I would be surprised if we were done with everything the rangers want to get done by 2pm (so you can get back by 3pm), so if you need to bug out early you'll just have to plan for that.
