So my dad's flying in on short notice to visit. He wanted to go to a broncos game but spending $1000 for the 3 of us doesnt make sense to us so i suggested fly fishing. Just like in the movies :p:
I am an amateur at best and he is pretty much the same so a guide would be nice. A ranch right on the river with full service is probably what he would like. Hes not the kind of cruiser explorers we are...hehe.
Maybe within an hour or two at most from co springs...any suggestions?
Thanks, you guys always suggest the best for our trips!:thumb:

I would suggest the Frying Pan in Basalt, but that is more of a drive that you were looking for. Eleven Mile Reservoir is close to you. Maybe a fishing store in the Springs would have an idea.

Fishing is picking up on the Dream Stream section of the South Platte. But, it's not easy fishing. Fish are picky and the place is usually jammed with people. Plus, its not really that " pretty" around there.
I think a better bet would be the Arkansas River. http://royalgorgeanglers.com/
Flows are a little too low for a float trip, but perfect for wading. The streamer action is really on this time of year. Sounds like fun!

North Fork Ranch (http://www.northforkranch.com/world-class-fly-fishing/) would make for a very memorable experience. I took the opportunity to fish there a couple of years ago and enjoyed it very much. It may be a bit out of the 1-2 hour distance range for you but it is a ranch on the river and has great guided fly fishing.
In addition to the stretch between Spinney and Eleven Mile, you would likely have a very good time with a guide in 11 Mile Canyon.
