Did the engine finally give up? How many miles did it have?

4.7 would be a sweet motor.

You'll have it fixed in what, say about 6 hours? ;)

Let me guess....it started in reverse rotation again and the only way to shut it off was to yank it out?

:lmao::lmao: The old charging system couldn't handle to consistent voltage requirements of the 127million LEDS that he bought for the :zilla:

Looking forward to seeing this with a new power plant.

The new engine is the one I bought from Mike Moore a few years ago mated to the SM465 and Orion I already had. It has been a fun project and really exciting to see it come together. Still need a VSS, throttle cable, exhaust, and fuel lines. Other than that, the engine is in!

That's the bomb diggity there.

I can't wait to hear how it runs with the TBI injection. Always wanted to do a project like that....

Very Cool Treeroot, now you can use regular oil, instead of the real heavy stuff.

I went for a 264 mile road trip to work the bugs out. Top speed 81.9 (GPS confirmed). I need to set the idle down a bit and it still runs a little rich. Other than that, the engine works great! Does anyone happen to have a '78 brake booster laying around?

That's another sweet step in the evolution Mike, your rig has always been one of my favorites.

Right on, is that the old Downey TBI adapter? What did you do for the VSS? Is that one I see sitting on the HEI dizzy in your engine pic?

treerootCO

The VSS is from Jags that run. The air cleaner and adapter are the old Downey ones. The one on the HEI is the first one I stripped when I tightened it too much.

Glad to see it is only a few minor details that is needed. It is nice when it work like one thinks it should.

Gary decided it wasn't a good idea to ignore my brake issue any longer. 30min and an 80 booster later.... Who knew you could lock up 37s!!! :)

I took it for a test drive and it was scary how fast it would come to a stop. It is a super cool upgrade.

Mike, was anything unusual necessary to fit the 80 booster? I swapped to a mini-truck unit years ago, but alas, I feel like the current one is starting to leak.

x2, wondering what, if anything, was required to bolt things up...

treerootCO

The 80 booster, rod, and pedal linkage bolt up with 2 exceptions. The booster has to be mounted upside down and we shimmed it away from the firewall to clear one bolt on the firewall I was too lazy to clearance. The clutch master is not stock so that was another reason we shimmed it. We could have nudged it over if needed.

The trip was good and the truck ran really well. The suspension is toast!
