View Full Version : Leavenworth EA/MVUM Trail Day w/ CCRD

Today was a great day, a great mental health opportunity for me!

We got a ton of stuff done, which I've been wanting to do for over a year, and I believe we have forged an even stronger relationship with the CCRD that will hopefully result in a lot of our requests in response to the EA being strongly considered and even adopted!

Details to follow, we had a pretty good crew for a Thursday...

I didn't get a whole lot of pictures, it was mostly signing work which isn't very exciting.

BIG THANKS to Dan, Martin and Lars for coming up on a Thursday to help out!

Kelly did clarify a lot of issues for me regarding the EA. For example:
-Boreal Toads have nothing to do with road closures in Leavenworth. Her concern for the area is sedimentation caused by erosion of some of the roads and some roads traveling through wetland areas.
-248.1L (the first creek crossing where Scott's favorite campsite is) may be on private land, so not sure what's going to happen with that. There was no trash there yesterday.
-248.1K (the wagon road to Waldorf above the railroad grade) appears to have a good chance of receiving water drainage/surface hardening work to keep it open.
-The hill climb out of Waldorf is probably going to go away (part of 248.2C).
-We discussed what to do about the road going to the cabin in the meadow below McClellan (248.2B), we may have options to reduce the amount of mileage obliterated, but a good portion of 248.2B will probably go away.

She'll let us know when a revised EA comes out, that based on yesterday's signing projects should be much more accurate.

Here are some pictures of Dan hard at work while the rangers look on ;)
Also some pictures of the snow conditions etc. It wasn't too cold once the sun came out, but the wind would pick up every once in a while and really blow things around. We might have a few more fallen trees through the winter into spring.

Forgot to latch the hood and a huge gust of wind blew it open as I was doing 60 down Floyd hill. :o

I took it off last weekend and flipped it over on a couple pieces of thick styrofoam and jumped up and down on it, then beat on it with a rubber mallet. Almost straight again. :hill:
