Well.... after over a year of trying to avoid it. I just cant get my back any better. Some of you might remember last August right around the Rally, I was down for the count with some of the worst pain I've ever been in. Of course the Dr. felt that the disc could rupture and I shouldn't wait, but I thought I could beat it.

I cancelled surgery twice since then because I'm scared to death of it. I can actually walk right now, and I feel OK, but I'm always in some form of pain. Sometimes it's not that bad, but it's always there. I can't run anymore though. I only climbed one 14er last year. I did shovel the other day, but I paid for it later that night.

So..... this Friday morning I'm going in for it. I called today and they made a spot for me. So here goes......

I'm turning 40 next year and healing on my own is getting harder and harder. Plus, Cruise Moab is a few months away....I don't want to miss it.

I hope that means this will work... supossed to be no big deal, or so I'm told. They said I'll be able to walk out of the hospital by late Friday night. Pain free except for the incision site. Then, take it easy for the next 6-8 weeks. Just in time for CM13.

Been a long time since I've walked pain free.

Positive vibes. Heal quick. My wife had something similar done but she had blown the disk which unfortunately ended her dancing career. Surgery was done over 20 years ago and she hasn't had a problem since.

Search for my thread on back surgery...I had the same surgery a little over a year ago, and it was the best damn decision I ever made. My bulge was much worse on the MRI, and had been pushing ob my nerves for years. I had severe sciatic pain that made life miserable. I work up with zero sciatic pain. It took about 6 months for the nerve to heal, I am probably at 95% of strength, ROM, etc from a few years ago, and now that I can work out again I should be 100% soon. The surgery was a breeze, the 8 weeks of no lifting or turning was a pain, but oh so worth it. I know YMMV, but I am very happy with my results...IM or call me if you want to chat about it...
