I'm replacing a couple of receptacles in the kitchen with a combo USB/socket. The combo unit only takes a single pair of wire so I've capped off the unused pair. Once I turned the breaker back on, they have no power. However, the lights that are attached to the breaker do have power. There are several other receptacles in the kitchen that now do not have power either. Multimeter shows 0 on the new receptacles but is reading about 122 on the light switch. Totally confused as to what has happened.

Kitchen has one GFCI receptacle. I've tried hitting the reset button but it looks like it doesn't have power either. I've tripped all the breakers for the kitchen but nothing changes.

Any ideas? I'll take the name for a decent electrician too.

Those are the parallel legs that send power to the other accessories/sockets. They must be installed.

Oh damn. That was totally it. I was looking at as the light switch was upstream of the sockets but it was the reverse. Thanks for the clue. All is well.
