Old school mountain bike circa 2000, S Works Factory Team carbon fiber frame. I had a friend build it for me back in the day with decent mid grade Shimano Deore LX/XT components . Rock Shox Mag 21 fork, Sun and Mavic rims, Shimano multi purpose pedals with SPD cleat surfaces on both sides (but you can still ride with regular shoes, too). Should be ready to ride after a tune up and some lube. :D $250

Sweet. My former MTB now city bike is a 1990 Stumpjumper Team.

I have almost this exact same bike and LOVE it. It's a great go-anywhere bike that has never failed me. (I don't count the time I wasn't paying attention, went flying off the sidewalk, and ate sh1t... that was totally my fault.)
Good luck with the sale.

Oh boy, this bike makes me feel old.

I remember racing a mid/late 90s S-Works mtn bike but it was the M4 material; an aluminum composite. This bike is one of the first S-works made in carbon fiber. Looks like aluminum lugs with carbon tubes. A true classic!

The mag21 shock was the peak of performance for the time also. I think 60mm of travel and a sealed air/oil system.

Turn it into a single speed and put deep dish aluminum wheels on it. I bet some hipster will give you $700.

So buy it from me, do the deed, and double your money! :hill:

I poked around on the web and discovered that it's a 1992ish model. It has been sought after by retro MTBers for years. I even found a picture of one in the sunlight showing the true color. Looks black until you get enough light on it, then voila! It's really purple.

If it doesn't sell shortly I'll probably toss it up on one of the retro forums and see what happens.

MAG 21 :thumb:

You would not say that if you had to service the internals. I hated breaking those down in the day. But I loved mine. The next couple series of forks from RockShox were a step back IMO but were way easier to service at least.

That is a cool old hardtail though.

I never had a mag 21 or rox shox because I serviced hundred to thousands of them. Never was a fan of rock shox or sticktion.

I rode a manitou 2, 3, and later ones as well as marzooki. my favorite of the later era was the manitou sx.

Then you know. Personally I liked the ride of the MAG series. I rode one though probably 1998. Did not like anything after that until I got my first Lefty Head Shock.

I have broke into my fair share of Mag21s. They were a pain to service but with different weight oils and air pressure you could adjust them to ride well for 120lb riders to 250lb riders. Sticktion was always an issue because the Teflon coating would wear off the sanction tubes and then the bushings would start rubbing. A well tuned Mag21 was very sweet.

It is a tempting bike but all of my money is going into the blue Fj40 right now.

Good luck with the sale.
