I have my 40 listed on Mud and Craiglist. Hoping to find someone local to give it a new home.

Nice 40! Sorry you're selling. Not being able to pass smog easily will make it a little tougher to sell in Denver, but it sure has a lot of other great selling points. Good Luck with the sale! :thumb:

I've been told it's possible to pass with little more than an air rail and smog pump that's hooked up. Taking the top off tomorrow. :) Gotta figure out how where to mount the seat belts...

The set belt gizmo that the belt spools in usually mounts to a roll bar base mount bolt, and the top pivot usually mounts to the roll bar junction about behind the driver's head where the horizontal rear extention meets the main vertical bar. Clear as mud?

That's what I did. Just looks goofy mounted down there, especially on the passenger side since the gas shroud kinda gets in the way.

Good news is I pulled the top up looking for rust and found nothing! :)

When I took the top off my '76 I remounted the seat belt retractors on the bottom part of the b-pillers instead of the normal location on the hard top part of the b-pillars.

I'll give that a try as the driver seat belt doesn't want to extend at all unless it is facing up like it was on the top.

If you use an L bracket, it mounts quite nicely to the roll bar mount, is upright, and wont crowd the filler bracketry.

This:
"H55F 5 spd with split case and unobtainium drum parking brake set up (works great)"

Sorry to see it go Chad... what an awesome cruiser. There are some really nice hardware pieces that would make a great rig for anyone!

It's looking more and more like I'm going to keep it. It's been great tooling around topless.
