Perry and I snuck out to Hole in the Wall Wyoming. We headed out thursday afternoon and hit camp at dark near the Middle Fork Powder river, then off to Hole in the Wall, and camped at Hole in the Wall Cave. Headed south for an easier drive home and found camp in the Medicine Bow Nat'l forest. I'm sure Perry will chime in with photos, too. downloading now...first round. Here are some pics.

Nice. That makes me miss home. I grew up on the western side of Wyoming but I lived in Buffalo for 3 years and then Casper for 3 years before moving to CO last summer. The Bighorns were my playground. Coincidentally, my bosses own the Hole-in-the-Wall ranch. Beautiful country!:thumb:

What a gorgeous part of the country. I would love to dive into the bighorns! Have you ever explored the Medine Bow nat'l forest?

We drove right by the HITW ranch! I hope perry posts that pic.

We looked and looked, didn't see them. I did snap a few pics of the inside. Where is it in there?

I have explored the Med Bows a bit - mostly when I was in grad school at UW. I don't know them very well - certainly not as well as some of the other ranges in WY. That said, my brotherr-in-law grew up in Saratoga so he knows just about every nook and cranny in the Med Bows. He's also a Toyota guy and I'm sure we could enlist his help in exploring:cheers:

Good stuff D!

That was my thought for where the Outlaw Cave was. Some fine folks sent us down the river. Look for the cave with the post, and OL09:). Super awesome country. Don't forget to bring your Silver Spinners...

To cool. Were headed back there this October for this years Outlaws Run. Would love to have some local knowledge of the country. Barry's neighbor is the owners of the Willow Creek Ranch. Would be fun to get to know both.

After leaving Denver around 2pm Thursday afternoon, we headed north, making it to camp around midnight. Good country to wake up to...

I did a Medicine Bow overland trip with the Trail Teams back in the fall of 09.

That was a really fun route. We drove up to Laramie via I25/I80, than south into the mountains, via dirt roads.. We found several great camp areas and ended up dumping out in Steamboat.

Would be a fun trip to replicate some day or add to and figure out a route from Steamboat back to Denver via dirt roads vs. the highway.

I found a mud bog that now reminds me of my water escapade in the dirty devil..:o
