The new 4runner is officially "under the knife". P/O did a fantastic job of wiring this rig with wire nuts, loose butt connectors, electrical tape, & even "hand twisted" bare wires. It's amazing that this thing didn't catch on fire!

Step one: pull every wire out, slim down the harness, & replace with fresh wires.

No, gotta swing by today & drop off an alternator. I'll snap some then. Thanks for helping strip wires last night

Oh, wow! This is the thread I've been waiting for. It's not fair we have to join TLCA, I want the acronym T4RA, Toyota 4Runner Association, and Land Cruisers can join too but, the sticker you get would have a first gen. Runner on it.

Got all the wiring taking care of... Big thanks to Brian. Next up, skinning the inside36288

And then new body mounts. 36" roll of rubber from McMaster came today. Turns out that this '88 4runner is poorly mounted on a pre-'83 pickup frame. 36289

Also ordered a dual case adapter from Marlin

Lets see....

Parts from a mini truck:

Mini truck engine (from an IFS truck no less), mini truck supercharger, supercharger add ons from a mini truck tuner, Mini truck trans, mini truck rear axle bearing retainers, mini truck high steer.

Parts from a cruiser:

Tub, but not the hood, frame, some of the front axle, and front diff.

The rest is custom stuff because the Cruiser stuff wasn't strong enough. Hmmmmm.

I think Kevin is just too scared to come out of the closet.

The cowl and headlight buckets are still Cruiser and so is the windhield and frame, the glove box door, ignition switch, headlight switch, door hinges, Emergency brake handle and cable, and most importantly the title! Still more Toyota than Kimmels rig! :p: Cruisers rule-minis drool! BTW. my high steer is not mini truck crap!

Alright you got me on the T-case and driveshafts. And also on part of the steering. My front axle is enhanced Toyota and the rear axle is 1/2 Toyota. But I have all Toyota Brakes! So there....guess it's gonna be a draw... :lmao: :D

Been awhile... Cage is near completion and tied into the frame in 10 places. Had to cut the bed to fit a 40" spare and then figured I'll also make a tool compartment... By tools I mean pneumatic hand tools and welding gear. Picked up an on board welder and a York compressor the other day. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/25/b2ac8370699c8aef916ce52ba9464457.jpg

Kinda, I'm 95% done. Just need to gear/lock the axles. All parts are purchased & Raceline beadlocks are enroute as we speak.

I had plans of taking it to CM but realized that the Hell's night run would actually be my first chance to shake it down. Decided to play it safe and have an enjoyable time with the family in the 80 this year.

Truth be told, I've been burning the midnight oil for the last 3 weeks trying to wrap it up & I'm gassed! CM should give me a good recharge!

The SAS isn't too bad if you have the axle, perches, front hanger, and rear shackles. Solid day's work but the IFS removal probably takes longer then the install. BTW, I have and extra front hanger and frame slugs/jig if anyone is interested.
