You wear out the spring to the fuel door.

Miles 250000
MPG (avg) 11
Gallons used 22727
Tank size 22
Minimum Full tanks used 1033 = minimum cycles.

That should not have failed.

Haha, mine will wear out in another decade when I hit 250,000. Most of my miles these days are for CM and the Outlaws run.

The title should have been..."you know your truck gets really bad gas mileage when...."

Just kidding Daniel!

DOH! I was figuring others would post their oddball worn out parts. Really, who breaks a fuel door spring? Courtesy light switches ok (and they are bad on 80's apparently)

My '99 Camry fuel door spring was broken at 197K. It was all plastic. The replacement spring from Toyota was plastic and stainless steel (as it should have been). All my other Toyotas have stainless springs.

I disconnected my 80's front door switches a couple of years back when they became unable to determine when the door was closed. :hill:

You don't have a spring to the fuel door.
