Strangely enough I don't hate it. Not gonna sell the 40 to get one, though. :hill:

You gotta love the comments:

"jonny_dipstick Mar 5, 2014

no real man is going to want one. Only people that think they are going off-roading, but really, they are just going to whole foods to get some organic tofu. mmmm....bean curds."

:lmao:

I like the idea of a small 4x4, like the Suzukis.

This reminds me a RAV4 or the Scion cube thing.

Except that it has a diesel.

And a low range.

So I dunno. With Toyota halting the FJC (which is a truly lame move), it could fill a niche. It's probably too small to really be competition to the FJC & 4Runner, though.

Except that the diesel won't be offered in the USA according to this article (http://www.autoblog.com/2014/03/04/2015-jeep-renegade-deep-dive-official-photos-geneva/).

I'm a huge fan of lifting a back wheel over a 1 foot obstacle! Hope it has lockers! Why would they show a lifted wheel with little droop?

Probably a nice little winter commuter. But will see the wrong end of a strap with any wheeling opportunity.

It's the Fiat Panda reborn with the Crysler body...

I completely disagree.

I think it will do quite well offroad. I've seen many a Sidekick wheeling, and those had way less torque than that diesel will have. They never had any more issue that a stock first gen 4runner.

Is it going up Chinamans or the like in bone stock form? probably not. But certainly I could drive that over Mosquito Pass. I'd have to work it in a few spots, but not much.

Plus, traction control goes a long way.

A good driver could likely take that thing up a number of medium trails without trouble, assuming you swapped on some decent tires.

Yeah Isaac, if it's a Fiat Panda in a Jeep's clothing, just lift it a little and it'll hunt.

Well, I guess we'll see when it goes on sale. Don't always need a lift and lockers to go offroad.

Esageratamente Panda!

I don't read Italian, but apparently the Panda quattro is actually legit for what it is (I agree with you Isaac!). It's no traditional expedition vehicle (but then people have traversed the world in Tuk-Tuks (http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/news/articles/tuk-tuk-teachers-on-course-for-world-record-12137.html)) but has 4x4 and runs 175/65R15 tires (hint, hint BFG makes a 185/65R15 popular with VW Synchros). Probably a great run about that would do just fine exploring dirt roads. Likely more capable than people would be willing try with their new car at the risk of a dented rocker or something. Plus it gets probably like 40 MPG, which is nice.

Okay, now that jet car is just cool. Probably get arrested for using it at anywhere but an airfield, but very cool none the less.
