Not trying to stir anything up, but this is seriously the 8th or 9th time I've seen 60s and 80s loade up at the Muslim temple(?) by my house. Every time I ask where they're off to, they say Florida. I've seen some nice ones go.

most likely Florida, then on to a boat to the middle east

popular trucks there

Maybe Cruisers just move around the world - they leave the U.S. for the middle east, and we import them from Japan and Australia. Musical chairs, of sorts.

I know in Kurdistan and even the rest of Iraq, it's pretty popular to import American cars, but with the import tax there, you basically pay for the car 3 times. Most popular being Chargers, Camaros, and Mustangs. I would have figured they had plenty of Cruisers and Hiluxes (Hiluxen? Hiluxii?) and wouldn't need more. I was on Yota overload over there. Maybe that's why they have so many.

Remember that Toyota doesn't make 40, 60, 80 series or the old Hilux anymore, it's a fixed supply globally. So places with stronger currencies or emerging markets or/and favorable import rules will be bringing them in from places with relatively declining economies and weakening currencies or/and strict emissions and mechanical rules.

That's why we got all the JDM stuff in the first place, Japan has even more road laws than us. Now the rules here are such that anything more than a few years old requires dedication to keep street legal, so a lot of people aren't willing to jump all the hoops so off they go to the Middle East, South America and China.

^^^ That's exactly what I was thinking, Brian! I even googled "FJ60 Libya rebels" looking for a pic. ;)

I was looking at a clean 100 series at a Cincinnati dealership a couple of years ago. They told me they don't keep many to sell on the lot. They load up most of them and ship them to Russia.

I was selling a bunch of 2f parts on craigslist last year. A guy came and picked up just about all the motor parts I had. He said they were shipping the parts over to Pakistan after we loaded everything up. I felt kinda sick after he said that...

It's OK that we have Pakistanis sew up replacement canvas soft tops for next to nothing but damned if they get to buy our used 2F parts?

Nah didn't mean it like that. Just that the parts aren't staying in the US. Chill bro

Okay, someone please explain this picture to me.

The rebels in Libya used Landcruisers for their "military" vehicles. That one was photographed being driven back from the front lines after a battle. Sure looks like they had some ordinance inside that exploded, blowing the roof and doors off. Either that or it took a direct hit and kept going.:o
