View Full Version : Fall River Reservoir / Chinns Lake and Yankee Hill

We went up to Fall River Reservoir for a dinner cook-out on Saturday evening. The road is all snow free up to Fall River Reservoir. The road to Chinns Lake is closed about a half mile from the lake with a wall of snow. Looks like it'll be another few weeks before that lake is accessible.

After dinner, we went up over Yankee Hill on the main route over the top and down to Central City. The sunset was outstanding.

We came down off the hill in the dark and I got to use my excessive illumination capacity to burn leaves off trees all the way down :D:D:D

Down at the bottom, I used my rock lights and my under hood light to help with airing up the tires.

Fun was had by all! I think we'll be doing more dinner trips over the summer to go somewhere interesting to cook a meal. More photos as per normal at my website (https://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/2016/06/19/chinns-lake-fall-river-reservoir-yankee-hill/).

Dude I went up there last week and people are tearing up Fall River lake access. So the snow on Fall River is gone. There was a 4 ft drift.

Yup no snow all the way up to the reservoir. The road looked in good shape. No big mud pits or anything. The road up to Chinns Lake is rougher (as it has always been) and that snow wall at the end caught us a bit off guard.

The last time I was up there, Chinns Lake was trashed. Glass, metal, camp and fishing garbage. It was pretty bad.

Anyone know if a club or group sponsors that trail?
