Man, what an awesome weekend!! Thank you everyone for coming out. A great group and as always, awesome country, and super awesome Steam Train. Will work through pics this week but wanted to get a report thread going. Chasing the C&TS out of Antonito yesterday was a hoot.

Thanks everyone for an awesome, much needed weekend!!

Had a Blast! Just made it home after an 18 hour drive. The old 60 logged 2200 miles without breaking a sweat (wind in my favor on the East Leg of the trip!).

Pics to come.

We just got home last night after a great detour via Stunner, Summitville, Del Norte, an off-the-beaten-path natural arch, and the mountains south and west of Saguach.

Chasing the train was EPIC! I really hope some photos pop up from the train's perspective as we charged alongside the engine.

I know Perry will have some great shots, so I'll hold off posting a ton of photos.

Just a couple of mine:

We had an awesome time as well. Meeting new friends and time on the train/trail together. Thanks for all the fun and planning. One of our top trips for the year! Lots of better pics I'm sure to come but a couple of mine

Love the pic of the two engines popping off at the same time Todd!

I only got pics on day one before I somehow filled up my memory card (note to self: carry a spare).

But I'll go through them over the next couple of days.

But very much a great time! Thanks for coming guys (and gals). It's just such a chill thing to do, cruising some trails and camping out. Except for the chase from Whiplash to Sublette. That's just a plain old rush!

Fantastic trip!! Thanks Perry and Dan for getting this together and sharing such wonderful knowledge of the area!! The pot luck was great, thanks to all that contributed.. What a great bunch of people!! Here is a link to a video I took. Our train had 10 cars on it so it required 2 locomotives in order to climb Cumbres Pass. This video is where we cross a trestle which used to be made of wood until it burned and was rebuilt. The trestle cannot support both locomotives so one had to disconnect and cross first, this video shows us crossing and reconnecting to the first locomotive. It is about 6 minutes long but very cool.. Hope you enjoy!

Great pics Douglas and Heather!

Here are my pics.

No sooner did we arrive at camp, did we hear the whistle of the C&TS. A short run with the camera and we were at the old track maintenance town of Sublette.

I spent a week last month in the Jemez mountains with ashley and we seen the train a few times. Id like to drive it. Its a great area with good camping, climbing, and hot springs. And its not Colorado so there were no crowds.

Next year we need to get some cheap gimbles to mount on our trucks for some GoPros to capture the action when we chase the train :)
