The official dates for the 2007 "Outlaws Run" will be September 27th-30th, 2007. We will be meeting in Hanksville at 12pm at the Hollow Mountain Gas Station. From there, we will head south. From what I remember, there are no grocery stores in Hanksville, so be sure to stock up before hand. The area we will be heading to is remote, recomend at least two jerry cans of gas for the trip. Please post up if your going to be able to make it and I will get a head count going.

I'm trying to keep the area a suprise, but I know you won't be disapointed!

Who's going so far:
1) Daniel Markofsky
2) Paul May
3) Kurt Williams
4) Richard Dyatt (FJ40)
5) Gary T
6) Brian Passey
7) Perry Loughridge

The campsite for the 2007 Outlaws run is HERE (http://maps.live.com/?v=2&sp=Point.qg49055s000y_Outlaw%27s%20Run%202007%20Campsite___), thanks to the wonders of Internet Mapping!

You can even ask it to give you directions and it will highlight the proper road in.

Cool find there Dan! . The more I think about it, that campsite will work out perfect for this next year.

I'm really hoping I can make it out this year... last year was a busy year so the 2006 Outlaw Run just didn't happen for me :(

I'm anxiously awaiting the dates... I'm crossing my fingers I can make it work :D

For what its worth, I would prefer option #2, I was in the Eva Connover, Devils Race Track area last summer... while its never too soon to go back, the other trip sounds really cool. I'm a total outlaw nerd, so that area has alot of draw IMHO.

Also, FYI... 10/19 - 10/21/07 is the TLCA Glitter Gulch Gambol event in Nevada. Not sure if any of your are planning on attending, I'm not too sure myself yet.

Hope to make it this year Perry. Set the date and I'll do what I can. I'm doing the White rim, canyonlands over Halloween again but don't adjust your schedule to fit mine.

Plus, it should get us away from the cell phone coverage that we had last year:beer:  . I will post up next week the official route for the run.

So lets here it Perry... let the damn cat out of the bag :D We are almost a month away, I want to start researching the area we are heading to.

On that note, are you 'capping' the attendance? How many? There are a couple of SL local roamers that I would like to invite (they might be watching this thread already). Thanks dude!

Ok, so this years "Outlaws Run" will be into the Henry Mountains. They are located south of Hanksville Utah. They are the last mountains to be put on a map of the US, 1869 to be exact. I belive this is one of the last remote areas in the lower 48's(other than Dark Canyon). I do have a route planned, though i'm up for change when we see it. We might base camp, or we might not. Depends on how the group feels. There is one place I do want to check out off of Copper Ridge, sounds like a killer camp site:D
Kurt, I do not have this run "capped", sine we don't have to worry about Permits. This run is usually light in attendance, so please invite away:cheers: . Oh, and if you talk with Paul May, please let him know:beer: .

This run should be a lot of fun, as I think most everybody will be exploring something new

And yes, there was OUtlaw activity around the Henry's:)

Dan, the plan is to enter the Henry Mountains via Town Wash, about 9miles west of Hanksville. That will put us on Bull Creek Pass rd. From there it's a decision of where we want to camp, theres a few areas if we go right on Bull Creek. Some of the other areas I hope to explore are Copper Ridge and Bromide Basin. We will Exit the Henry Mountains by way of Stevens Narrows on the western end of the mountains, this will put us out along the waterpocket fold of Capital Reef. From there it's a quik sprint north to 24 and back to Hanksville.

Peter Massey's book has a little info on the area. I have your maps of the area and will get them to you.

I have been studying maps and its a challenge to determine mileage. When Perry and I have done the San Rafael Swell trip in the past we each brought two extra Jerry cans. That's also what we have discussed for this run. I own three cans but without a roof rack am not even sure how I would carry them yet. (going to try to borrow a rack or maybe Dan will be able to carry) I'll post some trails info by Friday. But, because part of what we do will be determined by all of us when we get there, another way is to just bring two extra cans each. How much extra gas *could* you bring?

bh4rnnr

It's looking to be about 200 miles of 4x4 roads and another 50-60 miles of dirt roads and pavement.

Two and a half days to departure! What's your Outlaw Name?

Today I got Tim Nakari's Con-Ferr Rack properly fitted to my roof. Thanks Tim! Now the grate is fully bolted down and I also adjusted the rack a bit higher so it won't hit my factory rack. I also used the bag of bolts you included to put larger diameter bolts into the feet - replacing the smaller nylock ones. I finished off all the bolt heads gloss black like the rest of the rack. Feet are still shiny metal just like you had them.

I also installed Tim's rear-speaker spacers. Very slick!

I also fixed my passenger rear window. It has not gone up and down for some time now - from either the driver's control panel or the door switch. Turns out the switch contacts were filthy and one had a bit of plastic wedged in it - I think it broke off from the rocker part of the switch. Fortunately the switch can be taken apart and cleaned.

Finally, I removed the rear seats. The rack took longer than expected so I never got to extending the cargo boxes to make a sleeping platform. Oh well! Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Would be nice to have.

I will be carrying:
--three jerry cans
--15 gallons of water for me, Perry and the dogs (anyone else bringing dogs?), plus we'll each have full camelbacks
--scrap lumber from local construction sites for firewood
--the "fermenter" (five gallon bucket with toilet seat (anyone else bringing a porta-potty - required in the desert) :thumb:
--an extra birf for an 80
--tools
--oil filter and some oil but not enough for a full change
--work light
--stove and grill
--conagc
--wine
--coleman electric fridge and a regular cooler
--small but powerful telescope
--stuff

Perry is calling the BLM Henry Mountain Field Station (P.O. Box 99, Hanksville, Utah 84734. Telephone: (435) 542-3461) Monday and he and I are going to try to meet with someone there at 11AM on Thursday. We'll also get a street address. That may be a more fun place to meet than the gas station!

We will be leaving SLC ~ 8am Thursday morning. Are we still planning to meet at noon at the gas station? The BLM office actually has a nice park right next store. They moved a really neat mining operation (mill) from the Henry's to the BLM office and restored it.
