Anyone have a full size drill press or mill that could help me out with an easy project? I need to enlarge some holes on 1/4" steel plates that are about 9" x 6" and I don't have access to any tools that will handle large diameter bits or hold a plate this size.

Thanks! :thumb:

Hey, Martin, aren't we neighbors? I have a drill press you can use.

Thanks guys. Do your drill presses have vices that can hold plates 6+ " ? Also, the bits I have require a 1/2" + chuck. I'm in NW Denver too. Let me know when I can stop by, and name your poison  . Thanks again.

I have a mill that can handle that size stock. As far as bits go my chuck only goes to 1/2" but most bits above 1/2" are available with 1/2" shanks. I also have 9/16", 5/8", 11/16" and 3/4" collets.

Well, I can't touch ian's set up, but I am available as well. 6th and colorado. I use the vise grip style press clamps (toggles) so yeah, it'll work.

Wow, you guys are all set up with the tools. :) Anyone have time tonight? I'm usually home by 5:30. Thanks again!

I should be here. The press is nothing fancy - it is Christo's old press used at Slee Offroad for years and fits 1/2+ chuck. Not sure about the 6+ clamping - this one has an adjustable base plate that I usually just use c-clamps on. I won't have much free time to play (tons of work) but I work from home so I will be here and you are welcome to the garage. No poison needed here. Just pay it forward!

I have a question in relation.

I have a set of brackets 3/16 thick that I need a 1 3/4" hole in. I've gone through several hole saws and I can't get through. Any ideas?

Can do, it just takes time, patience and oil.

Late getting home tonight, and have to pick up my wife at the airport Friday night. Anyone have time Saturday? If so, PM your contact info and a good time to call Saturday. Thanks again everyone.
