View Full Version : Finally Got some time off in Australia

Had a half day to get out today so where did I go first, the local Toyota dealer. The parts counter was closed but they had some cool land cruisers. Lot more types than I realized.

They had the 100 series and Prado there, but I didn't take pics of those since we know what they look like.

I also stopped by a junk deler to see if I could get a good deal on a sub tank console gauge. he wanted $120AU for a beatup and cracked console so I will pass and go back and look when I have more time

Note that the truck cabs on the frame are landcruisers too

Alice is a nice little town of 26,000 about 1400km from any large city. The Todd Mall is where the action is . . . until the shops start closing in the early afternoon

Here is one for the HAM boys

That pole near the back is another antenna not a pole on the street

So got a chance to do a a walkabout today. Not to far.

Here is a sign you don't see every day

This is not to far out of Alice, but you can see how red the rock is and all the brush.

This should give you an idea of what the country looks like. I am glad its fall. The most poisonous and aggressive snakes live in Australia

You won't see a lot of wheeling pics from me as my rental car is a nissan x-trail. Better than the little compacts most get out here.

Sounds like a great business trip! Man, I'm jealous.

Looks like the dealer got a few more 70's in stock since I was there.

If you have to choose between Ayer's rock and King's Canyon goto the canyon. Make sure you do the rim walk.

The resort at Ayer's has a lot more to offer but the rock is just a rock, and best viewed at sunrise and sunset. If you can spend the night the "Sounds of Silence" dinner is cool.

The resort at King's is pretty basic. A campground and I think a hotel. Only one plane to eat from memory.

Sweet! looks like a good time even if you are working.

Can you pick up a few 2007 70 brochures?

if your at the wrecking yard see how much a 3bt exhaust manifold is...

Ken, wife wants to know if the flies are still bad?

05-21-2007, 06:18 AM
Occassionaly a fly will annoy me making me and make me do the Alice wave, but they are not bad and the weather has been pretty good. I hope I will get some time off. I will be spending 4 days in sydney with my wife when she flys down though

4Runners down there are the Prados? or Hi Lux Surfs? could we see some of those please?

Wish I could be another lucky Rising Sun member down under.....

Oleg update-I was at the Irbis shop last Tuesday for my hood lift install and he seemed in good spirits and looked good.

Thanks for sharing the photos
