Spring Creek is open through the third obstacle. It is still snowed in about 1/2 mile to the rock garden. Should be completely clear by the Father's Day run.

A few pictures.

It was a blast. Thanks for great spotting, and great weather (you arranged that, didn't you?). Looking forward to the next one!

I just have to add this pic to the mix since it's my personal favorite:D

yes, the jeep was a fun experience

It was a classic case of "spent all my money on big tires and a big lift, and forgot that my stock dana 35's were weak".

He watched the 85 attempt, and commented to myself and corey "Gosh, if i was bouncing like that in my jeep, i'd break an axle".

Then, as he attempted it after we'd all made it up, ignoring any advice or spotting, he gets the jeep up onto the slab, puts the accelerator pedal to the floor, hops about 3 times, and snaps his rear axle.

Perhaps more perplexing is that, at this point, he could have backed down to the very level camping area below. Instead, he asked to be pulled up to the top, and we obliged. He thanked us, and when we asked if he needed help or tools, he declined, and said it would only take him a half an hour. 2.5 hours later on our return, the jeep was still there.

Very motivating! Can't wait to get up Spring Creek since I've done that trail more than any others, and has been the only one that I've sustained any damage on..........
Is that a new Tacoma, how did it do?

Yeah, it is new. It has the factory locker in it. Very impressive.

He walked up everything without any trouble at all. I just fell down on getting any pictures of him. I'm not what you would call a "good" photographer.

I actually ended up on Spring Creek via a last second decision to wing it and meet a group from CO4x4 on Bill Moore Lake (forget about that trail for a month due to snow at least) and was wondering if I'd catch you on Spring Creek. We ran up to the second obstacle and met a ton of people coming down and bailed.

We spent some time talking to the guy who owns the Jeep - nice kid. He's busted his D35 three times and had spares...but the axle wasn't broken and the diff looked fine. As we left at about 4:00 it was sounding like he may have damaged the transfer case as it sounded like the chain slipping.

Ugly stuff when you have D60's waiting to go in sitting in your garage but still have the slip yoke in your transfer case output shaft...

That little problem was nothing compared to the group with the beater Toyota pickup who was drinking and got halfway up the left side of the first obstacle, stalled, and rolled it coming back down.

Anyway, I should have just done this run with you. Looks like Spring Creek is still a few weeks off from being open unless a bunch of stir crazy guys with shovels and nothing better to do decide otherwise

^Were you in the white 80 with the (big) spare on the roof? If that was you, we were coming down when you pulled a U turn after the 2nd obstacle.

Thanks:cheers:

No sweat on the pics - between the 4 of us I think we got a pretty good collection. I only wish I'd taken some video of that first obstacle.
