I cut off some parts of my FJ40 rear bumper that simply weren't functioning well. I have maybe 50 lbs. of tube and plate. I can put it out for the trash man, but is there a better way to recycle steel? Is it worth anything?

TIA.

Where do you take it? What's it worth per lb?

There is a scrap yard on Oxford near A-1 Scuba. 50 lbs probably isn't worth a whole lot. I took some stuff in just to unload it. HTH.

Matt, if you want we have a guy at work who takes all of ours. I'm taking a bunch from home for him today. No $ but at least you know it's getting recycled.

buy some from Home Depot and then pick up some artsy patina juice at Hobby Lobby.

Muriatic acid and a garden hose would probably work as well

That's Western Metals, this is where I take scrap. Scrap steel has come down a lot in the past couple of years, I wanna say they're paying like a nickel per pound. I live close and so the few dollars they give me basically covers the gas and keeps my conscience clear that I recycled it.

Thanks, I have a little bit here and there and a cast head I need to get rid of.

There are a couple of other places depending on where you are in town. Atlas Metals Downtown or Iron Metals at 5555 Franklin.

OK, maybe I'll run this stuff over to you one night this week. You're out-of-town, though, right?
