Hi Everyone! My Family and I are Probrably relocating to the Monte Vista CO area. Any good trails? exploring to do out there? I am from Oregon in the NW region, used to trees and mud. Hoping theres some cool stuff in that region. I know Moab is a days drive away, anything closer?

Welcome!

Not sure what all is around Monte Vista but you won't be far from Gunnison, Durango, Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride areas which offer some fun wheeling and spectacular views! Heck, Moab is probably only about 6 hours away for that matter.

Others will chime in for sure but you may want to look into buying one of the trail guides.

Here are a couple recent threads on trail guides:

Trail guides #2 (http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=4143)

Not sure when you are relocating but there is a multi-day trail run planned for the Ouray/Silverton/Telluride/Durango area over the Labor weekend. You can read about it here: Labor Day Trip (http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=2756)

Isn't Monte Vista where the Movie Manor is? Watching a drive-in movie from your hotel window - now that's livin....

You'll be in the middle of the San Luis valley, so you'll have to drive a bit to get to the trails. The stuff in the Sangre's to the east is probably closest - Blanca, Medano, Hermit. Or to the north around Salida and Buena Vista.
