Hey guys, anyone have a set of speaker laying around for a FJ80, the front two door speakers? Figured I would check before I need to go out and buy some as mine are blown and its bugging the crap out of me.

You can have mine when I upgrade, which I'm hoping is somewhat soon. Here's what I'm going with.. http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=163991

I went with Infinity 6.5" all around in the doors. They have a silver trim ring that matches the silver trim on the door panel. It looks good. In my opinion currently the speaker companies really suck when it comes to the new grill and cone designs. All this color and glitzy grills. It might be fine for a new Honda Civic when you are 18. But I would think that there are still older folks buying stereo gear.

Does the Pioneer upgrade keep the stock speaker grille covers?

I believe it does Chris, I'm sure the answer is in that post somewhere.. but yeah I think you can keep the stock grills. I agree, I hate how blinged out all new stereo gear is now, especially the head units. I definitely don't need to see rotating slot machine graphics and changing backlights, etc.

one of the reasons we went with the Scion head unit, etc. Acon post up once you get yours in what you think, and if they fit behind the stock grills, etc. And speak up if you need some tips for yanking that door panel... just bury your finger nails below the "elbow pad" and pull up.

I think it was in the post and the answer is yes. I'm all over this one, when I can spare the $100 to buy the speakers. :D

From the MUD thread it sounded like there is a difference in the fit between the '93 and '97. I'm not clear on if there is enough room to fit behind the OE grill and clear the window track.

just picked up a pair as I was in walmart. They said they are not going to carry them anymore so they were on discount.
