Guys (& Gals),

I just recently received my MBA in Finance and just found a job being a financial controller for a company in Denver. Previously I was working at Car Toys as a manager. So, I wanted to let you guys know since I am leaving Car Toys you guys are more than welcome to my employee discount. I can get Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL (Car & Home) stuff. If anyone is interested in anything from this manufacturer let me know. Lastly, I think there are also marine things available from Infinity. So either way, if these guys make it, I can get it.

Thanks for everyone's help on this board, I appreciate you guys helping a newbie like me.

Here are all the marine products that infinity has. I believe you are looking for the "602M" which is a pair of 6.5" marine speakers.

Colorado80

acon40,

it's not the discount that's a problem, but JVC, please get anything but JVC, my opinion/ranking on decks is as follows:

1. 2003/2004/2005 Eclipse
2. Alpine
3. Premier (higher line of pioneer)
3.5 Pioneer (lower line of premier)
4. Kenwood
5. Any other brand
6. Jensen
7. JVC

Ok, I am going to stop being a jerk. As far as the discount, I have no idea. It all depends on the model you want. I have seen a $100 decks cost $85 while the $200 deck costs $90. Usually the smaller stuff doesn't have any margin in it so you are better off going with something a little higher. Another thing you can do is go down to your nearest Car Toys and figure out the model you want, and let me know and I will get back to you with a price.

Also, I have seen direct bolt ins for the 80's but the Lexus has a different wire setup and not sure how I would make that work. The 450 has the sub woofer so a different harness. The 80 guys usually just bypass the weak factory amp, not sure how that works in the 450.

acon40: I am home right now, I will look it up tomorrow and get back to you ASAP

art hog: Sorry can't do ipods and zune. They (M$ and apple) don't give us a discount on those.

Romer:, I want to ask you a question about your setup that you want in your truck (LX450). As far as the 99 4 runner it is a 6.5 component setup which is absolutely amazing, because your midbass and your tweeter is separate in stock configuration. Look at the kappa line up on this link as well as the perfect. I personally like the kappa because it doesn't need a lot of power to drive and also is cheaper. JBL also makes a 6.5" component which would be cheaper and it is also nice.

Uncle Ben is right. As far as the wiring setup is concerned, you just need to worry about the resistance of the speaker which in most cases of car audio is 4 ohm and the stock speaker setup in the LX450 is 4 ohm so you won't fry your stock amp or anything.

Romer
07-16-2007, 09:59 PM
Thanks for the input. We have already replaced the headunit in the 4 runner to a sony deck that has a USB input on the front and ipod controls.

I might give you a call tomorrow. This is a great offer but could get expensive. . . . unless of course I only take care of my truck :D

Actually there are two sets of pig tails behind the stereo. The factory amps suck! If you use the pigtail that WAS NOT connected to the factory head unit, unplug the stock amps as the built in amps on the after market head units are vastly superior!

x2 on the above :thumb:. Although there is mention on MUD that they don't mount up right in a LX but do in a LC

How much would one of these go for: Infinity 6000M (http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=6000M&cat=MAR&ser=MRN&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA)

Looks maybe one could mount that up horizontally to a FJ40 roll bar and have some pretty decent sound like the sound bars they sell for Jeeps.

Congrats on getting the MBA and new job! That rocks :)

Thank Colorado80 (Q) for setting me up and helping with the install. I went with the Infiniti Speakers and described the install in this thread. (http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=166851)

I made the decision after those with 97's had problems installing the Pioneers and after another Lexus owner e-mailed me and said they were not a big difference. Found out why, the stock Lexus speakers were Pioneers of real good quality. These Infiniti's blow them away and I am real happy. Thanks Q again for hooking me up and helping with the install.

I agree with Trevor and like Pioneer decks, but I am now convinced Infiniti makes better speakers.

Guys, I have good news and bad. The bad news is that my 2 weeks notice was considered by the company as served and I am not working there any longer. The good news is they paid me for the two weeks in advance. The other good news however for you guys is this, that I can still get my discount on some things. While I was picking up Romer's stuff, I went and put in an order for some of the stuff you guys had asked for. Just as a precaution I also ordered 15 pairs of front speakers and 15 pairs of rear speakers for whoever needs them.

Other things that I added were:

SROR: Marine speakers 6.5"
Uncle Ben: Marine Speakers 6.5"
acon40: I couldn't get my hands on anything (decks)
nakman: I can get the pioneers if you want, but ask Romer about the Infinities
Corsair23: 6000m I can get, but it is on backorder. I have saved you a place in the backorder line but it is not going to be available till 8/13.
Inukshuk: I will set aside a pair for you.

All of these things you guys asked for I will receive hopefully by next week. They didn't have all of these things at the store so I just got them ordered from the Car Toys warehouse in Seattle, WA. Just in case you guys don't want these, I can just return them so it's no cost to me. I just thought I may as well be safe rather than sorry. So, if anyone needs anything please let me know "fast".

Guys the price for the ones that I ordered are 6.5" shallow mount for the front is $60 and the 4" rear is $60.

PM me if you guys have questions.

They don't work on the infinities. You have to use their grill. This was based on our decision to install them on the outside of the door panel as that looked like the best solution. You could play with it and see if you can come up with another way.

Inukshuk (rear)
acon40 (front and rear)
timmbuck2 (front and rear)
LEXUSBEN (front and rear): FYI your front and rears are both 6.5" approx. so a 6.5" speaker will fit into a 6.75" hole.

acon40, are you sure you want to do that to your door? It is going to require a lot of work for you to space that out correctly. Don't get me wrong, it can be done, but it will require a lot of work. If you are adamant about doing it, you will have to cut it and front load the speaker instead of back load it. Look at Romer's right up and the way we mounted his fronts is the way you will be doing your rears. No problem though, I'll put you down for 2x6.5" shallow mounts.
