right, so how should i distinguish wether that box is the 800 model?

Ask him for the part number or just go to the junk yard and look for the biggest GM land yacht you can find. Speedway auto wrecking, the one behind erie auto salvage (same lot, same cars) has good prices and quite a few 4 turn boxes.
look for the station wagons...

Just to stir the pot but Astro Vans are also 4 turn Saginaws but unlike the other Sg boxes they are reverse throw meaning the pitman arm faces forward. Personally, I don't like punching holes in cross members.
