They could turn it over to the folks at Earthroamer and let them add some gadgetry and granite, then sell it for twice that. :D

It is hard to see that kind of $ figure for an old Cruiser! The concept TLC goes on is it is NOT an old Cruiser. Every single piece has been replaced or reconditioned to original or upgraded status. This technically puts the vehicle into a NEW vehicle catagory. I would never pay that kind of money but someone who wants a NEW FJ-40 for their NEW car would. It always blows my mind when I see a BTB or TLC vehicle for sale.

No wonder it's still for sale. How long has it been there? I went by there today. Man those sales duded just give me the hee-bee-gee-bee's. Worse than vultures circling when you got a flat tire in the desert and have no spare.

I'll bid $550.00. I wonder if they would wave the "Dealer Handling" fee at that price? Oh yeah, I forgot that it is state law. :blah: HA HA

It's a beauty, but I think I'd feel guilty for driving it and getting it dirty. And then I'd probably dent it. Then I'd want to cut the body for clearance. :blah:

That is a nice ride. If I had a spare $53000 laying around I would be on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

For that kind of money it should include a time machine to take you back to 1979 so you can buy gas for $0.75/gallon. :D

Saw an ICON this weekend. Guy was giving me the sales pitch until he realized I knew more about them than he did. Guess his brother works for them. His was $120K and he had no intention of ever leaving the pavement. What a shame. I was surprized they don't offer a toyota engine, lost a couple of "cool" points in my book.

X2 I like the power of the 350's but I prefer the Toyota motors. For that much money, throw a 2UZ in it! We all got into the because of the toyota reliability and legacy.

From what he said Toyota could not sell the engines direct for some reason

Well, that is pretty sweet.

Perhaps it is just a pet peeve of mine, but it clearly says the motor is a 2F in the ad.

It is listed as V-6 in the ad.

Dr. Curmudgeon checking in here-
$.75 in 1979 dollars is about as or more expensive than it is today. Remember what you made in 1979 - and thought you were doing just fine?

Oil at $80/barrel is cheaper than it was in the early 80s... inflation-corrected.

For that matter, the Toyota Stout at $2200 OTD was no cheap truck!

The thing about the Icon is, sure, the powertrain is upgraded, but the suspension ain't. Kinda backwards in my book.

The reason they did not do a Toyota motor is that you can not buy a crate Toyota motor, unless you buy it in pieces. Jonathan wanted a completely new truck. All the parts, except for the frame is new. The only reason the frame is old is to get a VIN and have a legal truck. They were looking into making new frames as well with their own VIN number. Not sure what happened to that.

That said, I think a coil sprung truck with the new 5.7 Toyota v8 would be nice. :D
