The Romer caravan is thinking of wheeling Saturday the 29th of September. That's two weeks from now.

No place in mind, just thinking about it. Anyone up for a intermediate style run?

I'd take you up on it a week earlier as a shakedown run...
The 29th through the first week of October I will be in Wyoming.

Bill, I'm thinking about putting together a Spring Creek (or anywhere ese) run for that Saturday. Up for it?

If I can be the token new guy, I think I'll be down for a run.

What do you guys consider to be "intermediate"?

Sarah remembered she had a committment that day so we won't be going now.

Anyone else still interested? Ideas on where? I need to make an organized run. I always miss out

im down to wheel something... but im another token new guy... whats intermediate? im in a 60 with ome and 33x12.5 baja claws, unlocked, but not entirely afraid of pushing my limits (aka i have body damage already...)

Most people wouldn't call spring creek intermediate. It was the difficult trail on this years post rally run. Token as in "existing merely because expected or required, not because sincere or serving a real purpose"? Im not sure about you guys!!!:hill:

Spring Creek is intermediate, but you can make it harder depending on what lines you take in the rock garden.

I think we need to have a "token new guy" run. I have a stock '85 4Runner, but would love to see what it's capable of with some people who are familiar with the trails we are on. Something fun, close to Denver and scenic would be awesome!!

Its only the best year 4runners were made! I dont know how many I have actually seen in person. Lets make it happen guys! I am actually a token too, im just in denial:D

I may be in depending on where, haven't done Spring Creel so that sounds good.

Romer

spring creek would not be a good idea without sliders

I wouldn't take a new driver with a stock rig on Spring Creek.

Slaughterhouse Gulch would be a good choice -- still some thrills, but damage is unlikely. Bill Moore Lake is nice too.

I would LOVE to go to Spring Creek.

Mr. Romer, your whole clan isn't going, or just not Sarah?

FWIW, we took a bone stock 87 turbo truck up there earlier in the year. No damage. Did not attempt the first obstacle, but made it up 2 and 3, and did not do the rock garden. Rock stacking was done then undone to get him past the bypass.

Mr. Romer???

Come on, I was there when you got your rear bumper ripped off in Moab two years ago. We have moved past the Mr, haven't we?

Sarah can't go and likely the rest of us are going to pass, BUT depends if someone has something good planned we may reconsider.

Chris

Oh yeah, I remember the bumper & Moab. Let's consider Slaughterhouse Gulch.

Ken is a wheeling snob! :D

Someone mentioned scenic, that would not be Slaughterhouse. Hulk and Romer are right, without sliders I would not be sure about taking that Runner up spring creek. Anyone else?

Where is 2bad Jim?

Sorry. Don't like to push it with folks, I never know when I've moved into first name territory. I usually just play it safe, but now that I know, it'll be Ken.

It's not scenic? Or it's harder than a "scenic" trail?

I actually think it's a great trail for folks who want to see what their vehicles are capable of, without getting into too much trouble.

It's pretty scenic. There's a great overlook about 2/3 of the way through. :)

Just come and do Old Chinaman Gulch on the 6th :D

There is no better trail in the state to cut your teeth on a new rig, or a new setup on your old rig, or just to wear down your molars a bit :hill:

Nemesis Gnat
09-27-2007, 12:36 AM
im really down for whatever... just gimme a trail that you think a semi midly built 60 can do (unlocked, but with ome, 33s, and prior body damage), directions, and tell me where last gas is before trail head, and im ready to go... o and tell me when too...

i just wanna wheel with someone... it gets lonely not having met any wheelers out here yet...

I'm running that trail Saturday the 29th with several Jeeps from the Rockfrogs, we often have a couple of 4runners with us, but I don't think they're making this run.

We're meeting at the Burger King in Downieville, right off of exit 243 at 8am

Anyones welcome to join up with us.

Terry

You talking Spring Creek?
BTW, Terry and gang are the nicest bunch you'd ever care to wheel with. And part of his rig is, after all, Toyota. At least as much as some of Proffitt's Cruisers are! Maybe more so!
Wish I could go, it would be a great trail break-in run for the Chili. I'll find all the bugs (meaning, 'trim points' :lmao:)

LandBruiser

Damn so many trails i wanna hit and so little time now. Yea I guess Slaughterhouse would be a good one just remembered alot of trees.

Nay, I am still in for OCG! Alot of people here in the D confuse me with you! I get alot of "didn't I wheel spring creek with you!" :thumb:

I have seen Rock Frogs trip report for Carnage BV. Looks like a great time! Now a dilemma on where to go. Hmmmm

AxleIke

Yep

Spring Creek is where we're goin'

Thanks Bill, none of us Rockfrogs care what you drive, heck we have a built Isuzu trooper in the club, and I use a Toyota key to open the door, and a Jeep key in the ignition, I sit in the Toyota cab, but I look at a Jeep dash. I have a Toyota frame but Cherokee front end and drivetrain.

I'm having a major identity crisis.

It's just gonna get worse too, this winter it's getting Ford 9" and HP44 axles under it.

I have rock sliders, as the previous owner installed them, but still stock otherwise.... I think I'll pass on Spring Creek until I can get the hubs overhauled, the valves tuned, some better brakes, and real tires!

Thanks though for considering me!

How many are doing Spring Creek?

How many would like to do Slaughterhouse instead?

I'm still undecided.

Sounds like it should be fun, how about you Nemesis Gnat, Landbruiser, Bskey, Expeditionist? Bypasses are okay and it sounds like they'll be good spotters if we need them.

Meeting where and when?

Terry and the RockFrogs said they are meeting at 8:bawl::bolt:

He also said exit 243 but I think he means 234.

Do we want to meet at a later time?

Me

Maybe we should meet closer to 9am so we don't have a big backup, but I would like to meet some of those guys!

Also IIRC BurgerKing is just between exit 234 and 235 so take 235.
