I may be a techy guy, but I do networks, not code.

I need a new host and website refresh. Possibly with cart capabilities, but most likely a very small job. I have all of the existing website files (though I don't know what to do with them)

any referrals - takers, offers?

For hosting I like godaddy, choice of OS's and cheap.

John, that's what I did for a living up until 2 months ago. Now it's my side gig.

Here's my professional web site (http://www.ideashop.com/). I have a dedicated server on which I can host your web site. I can take your files and put them back on the Net immediately, and then we can talk refresh.

I also just finished building the TLCA web store (http://tlca.org/store/).

I use www.dreamhost.com - Been with them for 2 years and love them. My step-dad has Go Daddy and have had many problems with their email servers + they don't accept large attachments. If you're interested, I can get you a discount code (PM me if so).

I use EasyCGI (same host as RS) for a couple sites I run; I use Gate.com on another one. I was going to switch the Gate.com hosted site over to EasyCGI when they made me a great deal to keep things there. I've used a lot of different hosts over the years for various sites; it's gotten pretty competitive on pricing so features and customer service are the biggest differentiators to me.

Check out the business my very good friend Jerry Golley runs at www.canvastoolbox.com and www.merchantengine.com and see if that's the type of thing you are looking for.

John, as a plug for Matt's IdeaShop he's been hosting my family's web site for about a year now. Man what an upgrade from the last one we had.. the best parts have been nearly flawless up-time, super fast uploads via ftp when making updates, the web sites are always up. Best part is the email system is soooooo much better, allowing me to pre-set varying levels of tolerance for spam, etc.

We've also got computers using Win2000, WinXP sp1, XPsp2, and Macs, with anything from Thunderbolt to Outlook as email clients.. and it just works. Plus there are two different options for remote checking email when away from your machine, both of which work great. Maybe my ISP before was just bad, but I can't tell you how many fewer head aches I've had this year resolving my family's email issues than in every year past.... and the icing on the cake is the price is almost like stealing.. keep it in the club and sign up with Ideashop
