It is with great reluctance we are placing our 1977 FJ-40 up for sale. We
are looking for a good home with people who will appreciate it as much as
we have for the past 28 years, and thought we would give Land Cruiser Club members a first shot before we advertise it for sale.

We are the original owners and have all the paperwork and service records
accumulated since its purchase:
We have kept our Land Cruiser completely stock with the exception
of an auxiliary 22-gallon gas tank we added in 1978.
Approximate mileage is 60,000 ? the speedometer broke many years
ago.
The engine, trans, etc., are all original.
The interior is all original ? we have had seat covers on it
since its purchase; the seats/door panels are in excellent condition, as
is the dashboard, floor mats, etc.
We have driven our Land Cruiser less than 1,000 miles per year
for the past 15 years.
Our Land Cruiser has never been wrecked or rolled ? the body is
straight and dent-free ? and has been garaged for most of its life.
It is a High Altitude Vehicle, purchased in Salt Lake City, and
does not have a catalytic converter.
It has been in Southern California since 1979.
There is some rust under the back doors, the headliner needs to
be replaced, and the front axle could use new gaskets and seals.
We have the original spare tire (mounted on the original rim, of
course), tool kit, and cans of touch-up paint that came with our Land
Cruiser when we purchased it new in 1977!

Our adult children are not interested in our Land Cruiser; and my wife and
I have arm injuries that make it very uncomfortable to drive our Land
Cruiser. Therefore, we have decided it is best for our Land Cruiser to
have a good home where it can be used and enjoyed as it was meant to be, not chopped up and desecrated.

We are aware of the value of original FJ-40?s in excellent condition, and
are asking $17,500 or best offer. Our Land Cruiser still turns heads when
we drive into the big city, and will make a great daily driver or show
vehicle for someone who will appreciate it.

We have photos available for anyone interested. E-mail me at
hreniger@usa.net and I will forward photos.

Thanks in advance.

Ouch is right. I have always dreamed of owning such a cruiser but the dream always ends in "...well i only paid $5k for it new and its 30 years old now so make me an offer...." not $17,500

Doesn't sound too bad except for the above.

anyway.. who's asking for pics  I wouldn't mind window shopping :D

Rust wise is looks great but the inverted bezel, and the bungee holding the xfer in 2 is bad news (usually idler bearings shot). I have more if anyone is interested.
