A month ago they stole my 5 old tires from my 80, now my tcase and tranny that were wrapped in tarps and bungeed to a pallet.

If anyone see on CL or anywhere else someone selling this stuff, let me know!!

I put up a fence along the alley to protect my junk. Justin lost three wheels back there with worn out tires on them. They left the fourth for a while.

During construction, some bum cut out all the copper wire that was by the back door, right out of the wall. They had to re-pull it all. Then the bum did the same thing in the garage; if it was too much work he just left it. He got maybe a foot and a half of wire that time, but it cost the electricians beaucoup bux.

Then the guy came by asking the trim guy if there was any copper scrap. The trim guy described him, he is most likely a druggie down the street who lives with his mom (who is a few races shy of a bearing set herself). Not enough of an ID to convict though.

We thought long and hard about leaving a few live wires hooked up to 220 for a while. There WOULD be enough to convict though in that situation. If you take my meaning.

I've got a 4 speed you can have, it's a later style though since it's from a 60. But I'm sure someone here can tell you what bell housing you'll need. Can't help on the T-Case though, sorry. man this sucks

all my stuff was from a 60, so 1 of the bellhousings I have would work. thanks man, I hope to find a running 2f with everything I need, hate to take your spare parts.

I want to put my 3 speed out there tonight and wait with a baseball bat...

That's terrible news, We should have moved it inside a couple of nights ago. On the plus side, we can now work on getting you a personal theme song. Parts of This one (http://www.jibjab.com/view/150392) seems appropriate for the situation.

Tim, so sorry to hear that. I have "lost and loaned" a ton of stuff to others and hate to hear others having the same problem. Storing anything when backed to an alley is one of the hardest things to do. My parents have a shop and two rentals behind it split by the alley. Thieves used to steal anything that wasn't bolted down till we added some big time lights to the area.

The cops told us that lights are the enemy of thieves and so far it has worked really well. I know this advice comes to late but for future items stored out there it may be an option. If you do add lights remember to protect them, first few we had out there were broken somehow?? I build some "boxes" to protect them and since then the tagging and stealing have come to a bear minimum.

I hope you find the parts you need soon and some bad Karma for the people who "borrowed" your parts.

I'm thinking you could fashion a sensor attached to a recording of a Doberman, German Shepherd, whatever barking...Throw in some massive spot lights and when the aholes trip the sensor the lights and barking start. Heck, hook up a small remote camera to record it and share it on YouTube :D

Not a lot you can do when there are people in this world that feel they have some right to other peoples stuff

I ain't got no parts to give you but at this point my suggestion would be to call around and find a running 2F and go from there if you can't get what you have running. Maybe Ron over at RMC has something? He does some V8 conversions so maybe...Another suggestion would be Mike Goodknight over in Grand Junction - he always seemed to have some engines IIRC. Last I heard he was mating 2Fs and 3FEs together for 40s but that has been awhile.

I am guessing they cruise down the alleys in the broad daylight and grab this stuff. I am sure they are clueless as to what it is...and it is sitting in a scrapyard right now.

Bummer Timm. The 4 speed is easy to find the split case was worth some $.

They roam everywhere. They'll grab junk from trash cans out here too. I've seen a little pickup full of scrap metal on trash days. Dude probably make more than me... lol

Yup. :)

I was thinking about this thread while reading it. The article doesn't mention how many of these "entrepreneurs" steal items to be sold as scrap.

They didn't mention that it's illegal to dig through dumpster in the City of Denver and it's how meth heads get junk cash for stolen copper pipes and wiring. The good with the bad. Shrug.

I had an F engine block and 2 stripped axles sitting back there a couple of weeks ago. At least 5 guys rang my doorbell and 1 guy left a note, all asking if they could have them. I said no, but it only took a week for the axles to be stolen. No big deal or surprise. The head that Jeff left to be "recycled" was gone in less than 24 hours!!

You're place is on their list. You must be one of their regular "clients", as mentioned in that article. ;)

We had both of our full suspension mountain bikes stolen on March 15 from downtown. They cut the 3/8" cable lock and took both bikes at the same time. The cops said there is pretty much no chance of getting them back.It really bums me out to think that some crackhhead stole our $2000(each) bikes and probably sold them for $20 worth of scrap.I hope they O.D. on $20 worth of crack!

Doood...

You need to beat them to the recycling and take that stuff up there yourself :thumb: - Or may start keeping the stuff inside and selling it to them at $.50 on the dollar :hill:
