I got this from Brant with Clear Creek Ranger District:
Bill,
I got a phone call from a stuck 4x4'er in the York Gulch Area. Seems they
got their F250 stuck and cannot get it out, It's been there a week, they
have exhausted all of my knowledge of tow companies, plow operators, etc.
My question to you is... do you or anyone you know want to help this person
out? We, Forest Service, have nothing that would get close and they are
stuck in the middle of the road. Although not blocking traffic, of course,
since the vehicle seems to be buried and no one in their right mind would
attempt to get through. The vehicle is located approx. at Bald Mtn. Lane
and Alpine Way between Fall River Road and Central City. If you are
interested or want to pass on to others up for a challenge contact Melanie
@303-(home) or 720- She seems to really be up a creek since
this pickup is used for her business. If you can't help, no problem at all,
please do not feel obligated in any way. I am only making the few contacts
I know to people that are capable of assisting. I know how some of you guys
love a challenge like this. Pass this on as you see fit but posting on the
web might be risky since it may open up the opportunity for some pathetic
person to go vandalize, break in etc. If you do tackle this keep me posted.
If you have any questions try my cell 303- since its Friday for me
I won't be in the office til Thurs.

I would be more than happy to be part of the support staff, I don't think Red chili and I can do it..........................then again "Wonder Twins Activate"

Kidding aside, I will be help of the rescue party if it is on Saturday, LMK what the deal is. I bet with a few winches we could get her out.

We were just there, correct? That could be a tough extraction but with the warm weather this week and now the cold moving in, maybe if you can get her up on top the snow will support the weight

Let me know when you go and I'll stay far away :hill: - No sense in you having to try to rescue two stuck rigs  :lmao:

F250? I am not ashamed to say, "uh, yeah, I *think* so..."

The Chili does exceptionally well when she is pulling the Chili around. Pulling whales, not so much. :lmao:

Bill, that F250 should be easier. Light rear end and higher ground clearance should be a big help. I have pulled my buddies Ram 2500 out of the big snows the last few years.

Still I don't think it would be easy but put our two mini's back there with our winches going, while we are strapped to some trees, and we would get her out.

PS Uncle Ben I agree, Members only, can we move it??? Let us know how it went.

I called both numbers this morning and so far notta. Her Cell went straight to VM so I'm guessing it is off. Message left, snow gear by the door.....

EDIT: Just got a call back from the home number. The guy wasn't amused.....wrong number! I called Brants cell and left a message so hopefully someone calls me back or it will be too late for me to head up there....

We're on! The truck went in from the Fall river side and never reached the ridge road. Sounds like it's all dug out but their buddies in Jeeps could even get to them. Its a stock 71 F-250. Robbies coming up behind me for support...... not sure what pics I'll take but I'm sure I'll have some entertainment for ya..... BTW she was estactic that I had a winch instead of a come along! ;) I'll be on 145.145 107.2 BTW

Kevin just called. 12:41 the pickup is out and driving down the hill. Hopefully not to add insult to injury, Robbie and Kevin continued up and over the ridge for coffee in Central City. The Forest service is aware and everyone is happy.

You got to love those tracks. A snowmobile company in Creste Butte had a F450 Dually set up like that. They said they could go anywhere they wanted to  This was a huge truck too, Crew cab, lift etc.

They make these for quads too and even motorcycles, oh to have unlimited $$$$$ to buy all the toys we want. :thumb:

What were those one that were sale awhile back going for again? Like $25K used or somesuch? IIRC they are in the $30-$35K range new from Mattracks. Sure would take the fun out of the snow run though :lmao:

I need to create a smilie with a black LX 1/2 buried in the snow. Anyone have smilie creation software? :thumb:

Not many pictures but here ya go....note how much snow they had dug out from the truck and it was still buried! Also, someone tried to winch it out I guess....note the bumper!
The last pic is a Photoshop crop (zoom) that shows the passenger tire wear (down to steel cords) from spinning against a rock or log when stuck. Unfortunately, Malanie reported back that the trans went out near Idaho Springs on the way down to Denver. What an unfortunate (expensive!) ordeal for Malanie and Paul....glad the Forrest service and Rising Sun could help them!
