matt will probably know who i'm talking about...
got home from a fun new year's celebration to find out that steve hanson, a great cruiserhead from illinois, who taught me so much was in a truck accident. his wife says he's ok, but she's heard the truck's in bad shape. this is a woman who i've never really talked to, which has me worried. please keep him in your thoughts.
hopefully, i'll know more tomorrow
Ige, let me know what you find out. Steve is a great guy -- truly salt of the earth. He was my first Cruiser buddy.

he's ok...lots of bumps and bruises. face has a "c" shaped cut from tip of nose to his eyebrow (missed his eye!), and he's got lots of stitches in his nose. his chin also got impaled twice, but he's home from the hospital and glad he was driving a cruiser and not the mustang.
he's pretty sure the other driver is deceased. he said in all his years of driving, he'd never seen an accident this violent.
apparently, car 1 had passed car two on a blind curve coming in opposite direction towards steve. car two calls cops to report wreckless driving by car one who was also doing someone in the neighborhood of 70mph on a country road.
car one loses control while passing and goes sideways....that's what steve remembers seeing...a dark car sliding sideways towards him. he went for the ditch, but his left front corner caught the car. when he came to, he couldn't get out driver's side, climbed over kiddie seat and went out passenger side window. didn't look at his cruiser, but said the other car was wide open.
car 2 had stopped and told steve he'd already called 911, asked steve if he wanted to sit down in his car...next thing steve knew, he was in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Wow, that seriously SUCKS! Was he driving the 82 FJ40 or one of the 60s? Sounds like he could've been killed.

Yow! That is some seriously twisted metal. Not much to salvage.
Wow. I'm glad he's OK. That truck is a complete loss.
