Saw this on ebay...From what I recall 80's without the 3rd row seats are fairly rare in the US market. This 80 looks pretty rough for the low mileage it supposedly has and I'm sure is a basket case where rust is concerned. Anyway, just sharing some pics on the 80 rear with no rear seats and the solid 3rd row windows :)

Bonus is that it does have lockers :thumb:

Cool, yes super rare w/o those 3rd rows, that's actually a different tub iirc, the nutzerts for the brackets aren't even under the carpet.

Man, I'd love to have one of those solid windows for the back.

The 60 guys lust after rear sliding windows. The 80 guys want fixed glass in the back. The 60 guys spend hours discussing non domestic fender flares. The 80 guys discuss how to fill the holes left over after removing the flares. I suspect if turbo diesels were the norm, we'd be lusting after gas engines :)

You'd just figure out how to put some hinges on it. :D

You hit the nail on the head. The grass is always greener...

My question too! Only down side of sliding windows is the security....true?

Nightmare of nightmares, an 80 that only seats as many as a Cherokee but is twice as big and a ton heavier

You guys hit it, so I could figure out how to put hinges on it. Then have a flip-up access to tools, recovery gear, and the fridge. Keep the slider on the other side for the dog, since that's all they're good for.

A guy on MUD did just that, albeit not with a "glass" window per se

Pretty cool idea and pretty creative on how he got it all to work in the end. Can't remember off the top of my head who it was though...

EDIT: found it --> Rear Access Mod (http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/172439-rear-access-easy-fridge-access-mod.html)

Ahh, the "stripper" cruiser. I have personally only seen one. John Shotts had one (http://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-trailers-sale-wanted/139667-shotts-1993-built-wheeling-locked-80-series-sale.html) with lockers and cloth but no third row and no sunroof or roof rack. This one is odd that it has leather and no third row.

Yeah Jeff I remember that thread, something like that but solid glass. Also with the latch on the inside, then flip-up lifters like a truck topper. In fact the topper places call them "windoors (http://toppershoppe.net/workforce_toppers.html)." I put one of them on our Taco's topper when we had it and it was the handiest thing, would love to have that type of access to the back of the 80- without moving the spare.

a lot of the JDM 80's that come into Canada have fixed glass windows, and no 3rd row.

I bet if you wanted the glass someone on mud in the JDM classifieds would trade.

I love my sliding windows in my 80. Since my 3 yr old sits in the 3rd row I open the window for him in town. Also helps to do up his seatbelt.
