Anyone interested in these: http://www.trdparts4u.com/PD-D115SYB.aspx?MakeID=1

They were offering free shipping for 2 days last week, but I didn't see it until tonight. http://forum.ih8mud.com/%2A%2A-ih8mud-com-vendor-marketplace-%2A%2A/207337-free-shipping-2-days-only.html wonder if they'd extend that for a little group purchase? Is $239 a good deal for these (with tent)?

don't start, Jeff. :p:

edit: oops, this should have been in chat, sorry.

I could see this being handy for the Rubicon trip.

Maybe we should each pitch in $30 and buy 2 of them. That's probably more than we'd need to make sure everyone had plenty of time on the crapper, right?

I'm in. I like Farnham's Wag Bag idea too. :D

Sounds like a good deal and better than putting your...umm...well you know what in the spare tire :hill: :lmao:

Seriously though, I bought one of those last year for CM07. With three ladies in my group it seemed more of a necessity than a nice to have for them. I've had the tent open once, in the family room, and the girls thought it made a great play house :hill:

We never put the tent up at CM07, but the ladies used the toilet each day. We just went around a hill or behind the bushes etc to set it up. They used the toilet on the Spooky Night run as well.

With just guys out on a day trip I wouldn't see the value. But for say the Rubithon, hunting, long trip, or when the ladies are with you it would be handy to have both the tent and the toilet if you can set it up for longer than say your average CM lunch stop.

The toilet isn't terribly sturdy but decent for what it is. The whole package (toilet, tent, wag bags, etc) fits into a large backpack setup about 4' high or so.

Doesn't the club have a toilet or two already for CM? All you'd need is a tent then (like Romer's shower tent) and you'd be set.

Anyway, I planned to bring mine on the trip for my pilot and I but others are welcome to use it. You'd just need to buy some wag bags and clean up after yourselves :hill:

FWIW I bought it last year from http://www.outbacktoilets.com/ which IIRC was/is affiliated with Roundeyes and who folks said we should support :thumb:

There was a mini discussion (http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=2907) last year about these vs. say the cardboard box toilet and bucket toilet (on the same site). Personally, if I'm doing my 'bizness in the great outdoors I like a little privacy so I went with the tent setup :D. Haven't used it myself yet.

I bought the older version on ebay for $189 last year. The norcal uys recommended it and its what the FEMA guys use in the field.

With girls coming on trips. seems like a requirement for me.

I use a PETT toilet and a TravelJohn enclosure from RoundEyes (I would recommend another brand). RoundEyes replaced the TJ enclosure no questions asked BTW, when a pole or two snapped due to a friend helping collapse it.

It rocks when hunting. The PETT with WAG bags goes in the truck, and a 5-gal. bucket and trash compactor bags (very thick, tear resistant ) with kitty litter and a cheap plastic seat go in the enclosure in hunt camp. Doubles as a shower enclosure.

Won't go back. Great system. Esp. the kitty litter, works better than I would've thought. Sprinkle when 'done'.

I'd throw in for the Rubithon trip (I was planning on the 5 gallon bucket and kitty litter method, so this is a step up no doubt). What happens with it when we're done? Maybe we could just give it to the club?

And then we still have to figure out what to do with the toilets! :lmao:

I would be interested in doing that, who would carrry them? We could make them the RS break room :p:

I sounds like we have some people that are going on the trip that have a set up like this already. if they are willing to share the hardware we can bring our own software and keep that in our rigs.

I really do not see the use in bringing and or buying more things if we don't have to. I know it may be a little to soon but I feel we should get the Rubicon people together and see what everyone has to contribute to the trip. If we are missing items i.e. toilet we can than either do a group purchase or one or two people can buy it and bring it.

I for one do not have a shower, toilet or camping table. I do have a big shelter, multiple stoves, coffee maker, generator and soon a 1200 watt inverter and some other stuff. If anyone needs to use these items for a while they are more than welcome. This way we do not bring 15 stoves and 12 shelters etc.

I will start another tread asking people if they want to meet up some time to put together a supply list. I personally would prefer to do it sooner than later, this last Moab trip showed me that packing is going to be a big, big challenge.

Any thoughts on this and sorry for the ramble.

Not to contribute to thread drift, but I agree with you. The main Rubithon thread talked about it, group cooking, shared resources, etc. We definitely need to have a Rubithon meeting sometime to hash it out.

The Bumper Dumper is fun. (trailer hitch toliet seat)

We used to put it on the back of a friend's truck the night before heading out to a race. We used a LOCKING hitch pin so they had to drive all the way to the race with the bumper dumper locked to the back of their truck. Hard to look cool on the highway with a toilet stuck to the back of your truck.

I guess I can start one, somebody will have to. Maybe we can make it a sticky in the Trip section.

If we decide to chip in on another one of these I'm willing to do that.. agreed it's a waste for all of us to be hauling a complete "system." It can then become the club's property, to be used by the club each summer as we expedition out to the next TLCA event.

You guys realize the collective plan is we do Moab + one other TLCA event every year, right? Just wanted to be sure you knew what you were a part of..

But I'm good either way on this.. give me another couple weeks to finish moving and I'll be a little more interested in official Rubithon planning.

They work pretty good but are a little weird. I have those in WR and anyone who has used one has the same reaction as I just shared. They sure do take up a lot less room than the PETT in my 80 does!
