View Full Version : Rec' a decent folding shovel

I've been carrying a full size shovel in my toolbox for years and finally realized what a PITA and waste of space it is. Like my high lift jack, I think it is an appropriate tool to carry when wheelin' no matter how rarely its actually used. I have no interest in mounting a shovel on the outside of the truck so I figure the next best solution is one that fits in the tool better. Got any favorites?

I carry the nato folding style with me http://cgi.ebay.com/US-Army-Entrenching-Tool-Folding-Shovel-w-ALICE-Case_W0QQitemZ220210047004QQihZ012QQcategoryZ75233QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The glock ones seem cool with the saw in it but I don't like the straight handle as much. If your Treeroot though.. you DEFINITELY need the root saw :lmao:

I like and carry the old-fashioned e-tool that Wes linked. I've had the same one for over 15 years and still works like a champ.

If you go to Army surplus, they have several shovels to choose from that are folding.
I carry two. A small one that is starpped to my tire carrier using the Uncle Ben method. Can't see it unless the tire carrier is open and I also have a folding one I bought at Army surplus.

me too... in a trench, in uniform... if you know what I mean..
the "east german" version is better. That's the one that folds where the handle meets the spade, and LOCKS.
