A few months ago me and Chrissy acquired Bruce's 40, I decided it was in need of some work and started "revamping" with the intent to be finished before CM.

While trying to familiarize myself with the vehicle I found that the body was basically falling to pieces. Welds were braking, mounts were punching holes the the floor, and the roll cage was starting to punch through the floor too!:eek: It was then that I decided to try and find a "new" body for the rig. I purchased a '73 body off CL and proceeded to install that on Jethro's frame. The body swap went fairly well as body swaps go, had a few headaches with the pedals/bucket and the t-case shift linkage. Chrissy (in charge of how things look!) decided that we should paint it black to match our 4runner, after I talked her out of PINK:tongue2:

Some pics of the completed body swap:

I will try and get some better pictures of the whole vehicle if it ever decides not to be winter anymore and I can open the garage door!!

While working on the body swap I decided that I didn't like how the seats were mounted in the body. I think I had a mental video of rolling over and having the drivers seat fall out of the mounts because of the little latches in the front. So to fix the problem I decided to make a seat cradle that tied into the existing cage with the option to run harnesses. I built it out of 1.5 x .120 DOM. I know thats a bit overkill, could have used HREW but I like to "beef" things up when I do them. Here are some pics of what it is turning out to look like. Still haven't tried putting seats in yet, but I should work okay. Lets hear your thoughts, and no please dont comment about my tacking it together with a flux welder. And no I wont be fully welding it with that welder either!

Ya I know, I looked at it earlier in the week, I dont have a drill press though. And I REALLY dont have the space, what with a 40 and a 4runner chassis in the garage.
:brick: I knew I should have bought a house with a larger garage!
