Took a short trip with a couple of Rubicons to scope out a few trails/campsites and came humbly home with a dent in my left front fender. I've never hit a tree before and would only have scratches on the end cap of the bumper if that thing wasn't there. I'm taking it off as soon as the insurance guy has a look at it.

Technically I think Corbet "planted the seeds" first and then he "hit a tree"

I have actually found them useful exactly one time. A stock LX drove over a rock and it tipped up and high centered him. All 4 wheels off the ground and sitting on the crossmember. It actually gave me a point to put my hi-lift jack on. Without it, there would have been no place. My dad runs one and claims it saved his radiator from a deer. I'm not sure though on that one. but I'm a firm believer in ditching them.
