Several people can not make it so we are doing it online only. Kevin/UB has a post started that should be the "Official" Rubithon tread.

Before I vote, what are we doing at this planning meeting. I am trying to figure out how long it will be. What we are going to do there we aren't doing here and if Beer is involved, thats enough for me :D

Sorry, the manager in me hates to have a meeting without a stated objective of what we want the outcome to be. Otherwise we could talk for a couple of hours without getting what we need done.

Ken, we're just going to drink beer and talk about the Rubithon, geez... just like every other night except face to face instead of on the computer.

Agenda (please add to it as necessary)

1. Food
-What do you all want to do for dinner on Monday night? How about Tuesday morning? great. We can eat lunch then get groceries in Reno on Tuesday, and plan the rest of the week's meals over beers on Monday night. There will also be lots of time in Reno on Tuesday for shopping.

So for Monday night, I vote for the big meal action while camping, how about fajitas?

2. Parts:
-Exactly how many of what vehicle types are going? (make a list)
-Brainstorm what spare parts do we need to collectively bring, based on what vehicles are going? (make a list, also some on the forum here)
-Review each item on the list, and initial who has one and will bring it, who has one but prefers someone else bring it, and who's willing to buy/borrow one and then bring it. Do this for every item. Some of this is here on the forum, not all of it.

3. Tools:
-Aside from the basics, what tools do we collectively need? (drills, grinders, SST's..)
-review list, then identify by each item who has it and will bring it, who has it and wants someone else to bring it, and who's willing to buy/borrow one and then bring it. Do this for every item.

4. Fluids (for vehicle use only)
-How much of what fluids should we collectively have? (ATF, oil, gear oil, grease, water, etc.)
-based on above, who has and will bring what quantity of what, and who will purchase and bring what's missing?

5. Camping stuff:
-How many types of cooking doodads do we collectively need as a group? (burner stoves, grills, blenders, green cans of gas, etc.)
-Who will bring what, and what needs to be purchased and who will do that?
-Remember Rising Sun needs to represent on Friday and Saturday nights.. do we want to do a big canopy? (bunch of tarps?) projector? laser show? Anyone know how to play a banjo? :risingsun

6. Recovery gear:
-What stuff should everyone have in their truck (one strap, hi lift, bottle jack, first aid kit, etc.)
-What additional stuff should we collectively bring as a group? (snatch blocks, hi-lift accessories, shovels, saws...)
-Who will bring, buy, or borrow anything missing from above?

7. Health & Safety stuff:
-Anyone have any special needs or allergies or anything the group should know? Anyone an herbivore? for example if Gavin was going I'd tell you all he was allergic to peanuts and peanut butter..
-Anyone besides Chris a Master Resuscitator?

8.

Ken, just as Tim listed and of course there will be beer.

7. Health & Safety stuff:
-Anyone have any special needs or allergies or anything the group should know? Anyone an herbivore? for example if Gavin was going I'd tell you all he was allergic to peanuts and peanut butter..
-Anyone besides Chris a Master Resuscitator?

I have Red Cross plus some minor EMT training. I will also have some very strong, VERY strong, pain killer with me including some Naprocen.

The biggest reason for this meeting, besides drinking beer, is to figure out the camping items. We do not need 15 stoves and big skillets. In addition we do not need to carry 15 canopies or tables etc. If we can consolidate some of these items we may be able to bring more BEER and BOOZE.

So with an agenda set, thanks Tim, when do we want to meet.

This weekend is not good at the moment, so I voted for anytime after. Set a date and I will do all I can to make it work.

My Red Cross CPR cert expires this month, but I've been through CPR now half a dozen times and so it should be fairly instinctive. I also have WFA (wilderness first aid), which is valid for another year or two I think. I am far from a first responder, though.

I got to resuscitate a drowning guy in Costa Rica last month. Does that count?

As for the meeting, I'm flexible. Pick a date and I'll be there. A weekend would be better but I can do a weeknight too.

So far we have a tie, 20th and the 27th. I would say this weekend is out so lets keep the voting open till Saturday 5/17 and whatever data is in the lead we take.

The Rally Committee meeting is May 20th at 7PM for those helping Ige with the Rally this year. I will likely go to that if I am in town.

I tend to travel during the week. Currently no trips planned the next few weeks, but that changes quite frequently so I may not be able to come during the week.

Any date is probably ok with me. May I suggest a very central location?? The Breckenridge Brewery & BBQ on Kalamath and 6th has a nice backroom we can use...and a good friend is now the head chef so we get a great deal on beer and BBQ. Droooooool...:homer:

Weekend would be better for me too, now, as I am usually out of town during the week. We need to work out some logistics, for sure.

Sorry guys, I was out of commission with my back again. Had to spend a few days on some heavy duty meds that had me wheeling the Rubicon already ;)

It looks like we have a three way tie. Since some people were saying that they could not make weekdays how about we make it May 30th?

Now all we need is a place to meet at. I do not know the ratio of N vs. S siders or E vs. W for that matter. Since it is a Friday night restaurants are going to be pretty busy so some body's house would be best. I would offer our house but I don't think most of you would want to drive to Roxborough.

Anybody that lives semi central want to volunteer their home? If not toss out some restaurant/bars.

Friday 5/30 works for me too, I'm in. Breckenridge Brewery sounds fine, or I'm still willing to host up at our place if you guys want to come up and get out of the heat for a few hours.. either way works with me, thanks.

I haven't posted up because I feel a face to face is a waste of time. Everything we can get accomplished at a bar we could better accomplish by written documentation on the forum. The problem seems to be a few folks ask questions that have already been answered because either they don't search or too much chat in non chat commentary. What I feel we really need is a dry run/overnighter but our time is getting pretty thin before we go.

I am not available at all this weekend! As 13 grad parties to go to and putting on a huge one on Monday pretty much has committed my time.

:wav::wav: I have a tendency to just ask away; not paying attention. :D

I think you had a good start in the list of people going and who had a fridge and a toilet. The only other thing was tents and sleeping arrangements. And a question I know I had that I'm not sure has been addressed is meal planning. Would it make sense to coordinate supplies in the various fridges/coolers? And dry goods? Will it save us money in the long run, or should we all just do our own thing? We talked about fuel, briefly.

I admit I have asked some questions that may have been answered in another forum and or post. The reason I do that that is simple, I do not know all the people that post up an answer be it here or on Mud or ???

When I need to know something that the answer has to be correct or my decision depends on the information I get I want it to be from somebody I know and trust. You Kevin, are somebody I trust! If you tell me that I need to bring 20 gallons of fuel with me or otherwise I run out I would do so. You have been there before, you know what to expect within reason. As for the other people who have posted answers, most if not all I trust but there are some people who as they say only "Web Wheel" I don't always know who these people are so I ask somebody I know.

As far as getting together in person or online it really does not matter. I just thought since most people enjoy talking to everyone, N.S.B.C/S.S.D.C, that they would enjoy meeting for this too, with a semi real purpose even.

If we can continue the list you started online by meeting in person over a beer and finish it then or online again that would be great. If we can't and only a few show up then we continue online.

Doing a pre-run is a good idea, I know we are going to Moab this weekend and I will be trying some packing methods. A whole lot of stuff needs to go into a tiny little truck.

The things to work out as I see it are spares and possibly tools. 4 different 80's don't need to carry spare axles. We decide how many spare axles/birfs for the group and drive shafts, etc.

Where me meet and leave from on Monday am, where we are staying Monday night. I think we already picked the town.

Cooking stuff, don't need 10 grills. If a few people have grills I can figure something else to bring

Food - the thought on Engels is if we need one as a freezer. For as long as we are gone, not sure we need a freezer except for ice for our drinks. If we don't need a freezer than we can do more of our own and then mayb chip in on Brats or steaks or something and split that up. I know they bring Ice in once your at Rubicon springs, for a fee.

Other supplies - Toilets. Someone mentioned sharing. Rachel made it very clear that we are not sharing.

Tents are not something we need to do in a big group, if someone has room, post up

what else?

I personally think it would be more efficient to work this stuff out here and then meet for beers on the 30th to well . . drink beer

These are jhust my thoughts here

Exactly! You mirror my thoughts exactly! Thats why I asked for a private Rubithon window for attendees way early in the game. I am much better organized visually than I am when I'm BS'ing with friends in a bar/resteraunt!
Right now with the hectic high school graduation party memorial weekend approaching quickly I really don't have any spare time until June!

There are a couple of reasons why I would a prefer face to face. The first I guess is a little selfish in that I would like to get to know you all better prior to the trip. The second is that ideas can be exchanged much more quickly verbally than written. Having said that I agree with UB that I much rather have the actual data written down so that it's not misconstrued or forgotten.:D

I think that I can borrow a truck and trailer from a friend to tow my 40. My wife :Princess: and three daughters:Princess::Princess::Princess: will ride along with me to California but are not going on the trail with me:( I will thus have an open shotgun seat if anyone is in need of one. Our rig does not have a shower nor a fridge.:( I have a coleman ice chest and a three man backpacking tent that I can bring or an eight man castle if more room is needed for someone else to have a place to stay. I have a two burner coleman propane stove that I can bring if necessary. I also can bring elk steaks, elk burger and elk sausage if that would help with the food.:thumb:

OK, so we do it online!! I am good with that also.

Kevin you have a tread started already so let's make that the only one we use for parts/supplies etc.

Mods can delete this one if needed. I will edit the first post to reflect that.
