Have to take the WilderNest out of service for a while to fix some stuff, so looking for a serviceable topper to use in the interim. Cheap, straight-ish, waterproof and basically theft-resistant are key. Don't care about color, super bling features or anything of that. Just something to keep stuff from walking away and dry. Did I mention cheap is good?

Well, there you go. It's been a tough sell to get her to bite at a cheap temporary topper, not sure she'll want to spend $600 for another WilderNest considering I'm also gonna have to buy new rear springs and do the brakes again. But I'm gonna float it and see. She's not the least bit happy with the truck being broken at the moment.

I've at times had as many as 3 'Nests floating around. I only ran into a problem when one of them was attached to a 1984 pickup that Dean and I were rehabbing. That didn't go over well. But I also had a functioning WilderNest that we could camp in, which smoothes a lot of things over. If I only had $600!

Be advised that the Taco toppers can be made to fit on a minitruck but the cab rear is at a different angle. May contact.

Copy that and will await further details. Understand about the Taco/mini fitting differences and will consider any topper that is weathertight and structurally sound even if cab-to-topper shapes do not match perfectly (just no rubbing please).

truck is 85 sr5 efi

For the entire truck or just the topper? Topper is 300 (has handle locks via two separate keys). It's in decent shape.

I've posted the truck for 3k (has a BUNCH of upgrades, including engnbldr head, torquer cam, arp head studs, viton seals, oversized stainless valves, dough thorley exhaust, late model intake, etc....only about 600 or so miles on the entire rebuild.

Aurora...near Between Quincy and Smokey hill off of 470. Over the hill from me is the Aurora Reservoir. Southland Shopping area is close to me as well.

you pick up the truck this week and I'll throw in a clean 5 spd tranny (the one i have in there is not the correct one for that model year (shift points are close to the dash). the one I have on the floor in the garage IS the correct one...and it's the one that folks want (the stronger one...i forget the number 51 55, something like that).

The truck needs some tune up action to make that engine sing...i.e. new, bigger, cat back probably needed. lexusben took a look at the timing and said the truck is "mechanically sound". *might* need a new fuel filter sock...I dont' have time for all this stuff..

oh, it just got new hancook ipike snow tires put on this winter...again, little to no miles on them...I have other trucks I drive daily.

A 1985 would have either a W56A or a G52. If it was EFI from the factory, then it would have a W56A and if it was carb from Japan the G52 would be in there. The G52 has a slightly more forward shift position IIRC. The W56 is really the better of the two, since the G52 has the smaller bearings and gears from the earlier 5 speed (L52).

Yeah, Nakman, buy this so I don't have to.
