GPS MAPPING CLASS
9:00am Saturday 6-28-08 at Arvada Cycle

The Class is Free it will take about 3 hours. The GPS units and mounts we are using belong to COHVCO tiger teams.

This class is not to teach you GPS navigation; but to teach you how to collect the Data COHVCO tiger teams need for their Mapping Project see below.

This class is to teach the rider/driver to
collect the data we need.

You don't need any GPS or Computer skills to do this
work.
Just the ability to follow instructions, be willing to work, and be a
competent rider/driver..
We are planning to take Groups of riders/drivers to the San Juan's
and Rio Grande Forests this summer and next, to do GPS
mapping work. The 1st San Juan trip is 7-25 to 7-29-08.There is
Grant money to pay for some expenses.
You need this class to
participate

I will go over Garmin's MapGPS76CSx. This is the GPS I will be
using.
My plan is to preload these GPS's with different colored track logs.
We will hand out these GPS units each day with printed maps and a
camera.
I think following these manufactured, colored, track logs is a job
that trail riders/drivers can and would do. Of course they will need
some training beforehand to maximize our time on the ground.
I will have some GPS units at the class and I plan to send class
participants out into the Wheat Ridge streets to try this out. We
will have a group discussion after.

There are other GPS units that will work; and if you want to use
yours that's fine. You will need to upload and download the supplied
data into your unit. Bring your lap top.

Any questions call me.
