So unless the grab bar I got is bent, it's supposed to go in a slightly upward or slightly downward orientation when installed :)
I don't know which :)
Drew? someone else with a factory grab bar (FJ40)?
Over the glove box? Not sure if there was ever a factory option -- I thought they were all aftermarket.

I've got some of those ones that use velcro to loop around the roll bar :) - Down orientation on those :hill:
Seriously thought, I'm with Hulk on whether there ever was a factory grab bar in the 40s :dunno:

1958-1967 FJ40/45 had factory grab bars. I don't know if the glovebox size changed between them and the later style, all I know is Rezarf has one on his '76 and it looked like it will fit up with my glovebox.

In my 67 it goes up. You can sort of see it here.

Thanks Dan! That's exactly what I figured but I wanted to make sure...

You're welcome! Glad I could help.

The early cruisers have the small grab bar oem. later with the dash with the dash pad did not. you have to use the big honkin one like chris posted to get the glove box door open. The early ones won't fit the later ones unless you take off the dash and mount it high like the early.. did you get an early or late?

Sorry, I am a little late on this one Matt, mine is aftermarket though! :D

 I thought yours was OEM Drew! You got it from Poser right?
Well I got the one like MountainGoat posted up about, I know it's for the earlier trucks but I thought that they would fit on the later trucks too. I did notice that there was going to have to be some interference between it and the dash pad in order to clear the glovebox...hmmm

I don't remember where I got mine... but it is the old bolt through the dash kind. Works nicely, your passengers will use it! :D
