UB,

What was the protocol when transmitting from Australia? I can give it a try when I am there next week. :thumb:

Cheers,

Jeff

I just went by the rules listed on the repeater site. Both repeaters I listened to and played with were very quiet. I used VHF and that might be why as UHF seems to be their preference. List of IRLP nodes on 'peaders round the world can be found here. (http://status.irlp.net/IRLPstatus.php?option=4)

What you're asking about is reciprocity between the US and Australia. We (as in the FCC) have a reciprocity agreement with the Aussies. For short stays up to 90 days, you would use your regular FCC call sign with the suffix 'VK'. Where and what you are allowed to do pretty much mimics your privileges here. If you stay there longer than 3 months, then you can apply for a provisional license from the ACMA (their FCC equivalent).
