My office refers our clients to Bob Case of Case Inspection Services.

We used Coyle for our structural inspection as well.

I used Rose Inspections (http://roseinspect.com/), and was happy with their work.

...are licensed as structural engineers in Colorado and I guess they're really a bunch gossips.

I think an inspection with a structural engineering component is a very good idea, particularly with the bentonite soils in Colorado. You may also want to consider talking to a geomorphologist, or soils person, to understand the soils under an around the prospective place. The US Soils Conservation Service (or equivalent) can also provide soils maps that may save a lot of heartburn later.

One other comment that may be self evident: don't get emotionally involved with the deal or you will loose your objectivity. Houses are like city buses, another one is one its way to you now...

This the place we've used for both of our houses.

We specifically have hired Stephen McSpadden both times. Kirsten was originally referred to him though word-of-mouth by another engineer back in 1998, both he and she are licensed as structural engineers in Colorado and I guess they're really a bunch gossips.

We used Coyle for our structural inspection as well.

Just finished our inspection. Took 4 hours and man are they thorough. Thanks for the recommendation
