Interesting. It didn't work for me and I'm an elected officer. Oh well. I did see the post on bodreps. Basically, Liz wants to spend more time with her new baby (good for her!), and will work through the end of March. The TLCA webmaster contract is up for bid again. Last time around, Matt Farr and Andre Schoumatoff bid, in addition to Liz.
I'd bid for it if I was willing to commit the time. The reason I stepped down as Rising Sun Commander, was that as TLCA elected officer I knew that I would be shortchanging either Rising Sun or TLCA as long as I had a day job too. As I've gotten older, I've learned not to over-commit. There are only so many hours in each day, and you have to be real where you commit those hours. And as Liz has acted on, your family really comes first as far as where you need to put those hours.
Being the TLCA webmaster will be a lot more hours than what it pays; this is still basically a volunteer organization. There aren't the budget dollars to really pay anyone to work full time on anything related to TLCA and expect them to make a living on that money. On the other hand, for many years we simply had a stagnant web site but with all the basic info. No reason for people to visit often, but it was a resource of information.
Liz has recommended an associate who has already worked on the site as a subcontractor. I hope things move forward with good continuity.
