Just posted up a thread in Chat about Red Cone and we saw this h**p still over the side on its top last Friday. It was at the General Teller Mine on Glacier Ridge above Sts. John which is above Montezuma and the only way it could have rolled to where it was was by being way off the trail before it started to roll. I'd like to know more about the story. It was the second of two h**ps we saw over the edge. It's a h**p thing and I don't want to understand.

Hey Dad, the squirrels have escaped from the engine.

Did Red Rone on sunday, up Radical hill. It was "parked" at the top of a pretty easy hill. Near a mine, Teller? it was a little twisty. I guess if you were driving like an idiot in the rain you could go over. Maybe if you had no buisness leaving the pavement and drove a short wheel base with bling wheels then I guess you could roll. Other thought is mountain goats could have jumped out in front of them and taken the Jeep by force.

The sticker on the last photo makes me think it is a local rental but I am drawing a blank at the moment. Just saying it looks familiar:thumb:

Aside from the license plates, that is...

Could be a theft-and-trash too.

That was my first thought Bill, being a curmudgeon and all. ;) Really, the only way the vehicle could have gotten to where it was appeared to be an intentional effort to get it to roll. The trail there is on a wide flat area and over the edge was a good 50+ yards away before anyone could have gotten into trouble. Either it was a theft victim or someone forgot to set their brake and left it out of gear and it rolled away unnattended. I'd still like to know more about it.

How did it get back on the trail? Was it winched up by some good samaritans?

My friend sent me a disc with the pictures he took on Red Cone last week and I wanted to show how far off the trail the rolled h**p had to be before it could have started to roll. The trail is off to my right about 30 yards and you can see where I am is still pretty flat and nothing that would cause even a distracted driver any problems. Weird and I'm still guessing that it was a theft and trash as Red Chili surmised.
