I have use my engle a lot and its one of the best investments I have made. During the 8 days of use at the Rubithon, some liquid formed on the bottom of the fridge and the bottom mat sat in it for days.

I have tried several times to clean it to no avail, the mat stinks.

I was thinking I would need to let it soak in something, Ammonia?

Looking for suggestions on what to soak the mat in.

Ige uses Wesley's bleach white on rubber floor mats. I would try that.

try soft scrub, but don't rinse it out. let it dry, set, and then rinse like a day later. I do that for the coolers

The dive store sells some stuff called "Sink the Stink". Works fantastic! :D

mild bleach solution and the smell will be gone! Seriously! Chlorine is one of a few safe disinfectants!

A quaternary ammonium disinfectant like Microban QGC is excellent for odor control.

Ask me how I know? Woodmoor Water & Sanitation District pumped several hundred gallons of untreated sewage into my finished basement this summer . Quats have a very pleasant natural smell and are known for odor control with very low toxicity impacts (respiratory, etc.).

I picked up a little dorm-fridge a while back at a yard sale...stunk like mad! made a mild bleach solution and washed/rinsed....washed/rinsed...then finished with a dish detergent to seal the deal. stink free to this day.

X3, I use it on our game coolers. Just rinse out the chlorine when done. Disinfects.

Chlorine dissipates and is absorbed into the atmosphere pretty rapidly. Rinsing doesn't have to be too excessive.

Do you store the fridge with the door closed or open? I keep my fridge(3way in pop-up trailer) open when not in use. I left it closed for two weeks once and opened it to a nasty stink. Wife used some Shaklee product, worked fine. Wife say's she wouldn't buy it(shaklee) again.

The engle is typically in the truck with the lid closed
