all you inverter gurus. i'd always planned on eventually getting one, but now i've got the opportunity to get a 1500w one, reputable brand, for $45...is that a good price? those that have them, are you glad you put one in? what do i need to plug a laptop in...i've heard something about pure syn?

At $45 I can tell you that that one is only a modified sine wave inverter as true sine wave are several hundred dollars. That one will power most everything as long as it's not variable speed or constant power dependant. I'm guessing it would even power a good sized Crockpot just fine! Laptops, small TV's house stereos, even Halloween decorations should be no problem! Be sure to take a lot of care in the power cable to the unit and make sure you have a dependable fuse/CB near the battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb::thumb:

Seems like a very good deal to me. Mine is a Jensen 300w and cost $25 on woot.com.

That's an awesome price. I picked up a 1200W modified sine wave from Harbor Freight a couple years ago on sale for $89. It powered the TV and DVD just fine off a yellow top for several hours when the power was out and the natives were restless.

Cables? You mean wire to connect the inverter? What else do you need?

Yeah, how could wires be so much? My 400W inverter does all I need. Costco had one last week - 1000watt, $40.

the kit was Monster Cable, so at least $100 of the price tag was for the name:rolleyes: didn't look too hard after i saw the price tag. need cables (i'm guessing a min of 4ga), connectors, 150amp breaker...still need to research to see if there's anything else.
