View Full Version : Wanted: IFS sway bar

Front sway bar from an 86-95 minitruck or 4Runner. Have a mod in mind and need one... my '93 PU as it turns out did not have one for me to liberate! :rant:

You do know that you don't even NEED a swaybar on an IFS truck, doncha? And that removing it will help your miniscule articulation improve, with NO ill handling effects on the road?

Let me help you out...:thumb::hill:

I don't have one of those, but I wandered through Colorado Auto & Parts (www.ColoradoAutoAndParts.com - off Santa Fe, south of Oxford) last friday afternoon and as I recall there were 3 or 4 4Runners of that vintage that may still have just what you seek.

May go that route. But I bet they want more than a six pack in exchange.

What I was hoping to do was try it out on the Chili. Inspired by that 4Runner on Holy Cross. But dang it, I don't remember whether he had double cases or not! It will be VERY very close with my droop and the front driveshaft, close indeed. The Chili is plenty stable on the highway, but when towing I have to crank up the shocks to max or spooky things start happening over 70mph. I'd like to soften the ride and still have the anti-sway.

Just a 'speriment.

Which 4runner on HC are you talking about??

I may pull the one off my 4runner and see how i like it, if its fine, you can have it..

I think the Torsion bar Swaybar would be a better way to go.. then you can fine tune it based on how far out you put the mounts..

The red SAS '95 one, nicely and cleanly done. The one with the custom four point rear.
And hey, thanks for that! I will take you up on it. My only concern is driveshaft clearance at full droop, but that can be 'adjusted' most likely.

Schweet! The plan forms... does he also have a HP front diff, or just a 4/6cyl. LP?

Bill, the SAS second gen 4runner was grey, at least, I'm pretty sure this is the guy you are talking about:

The only red truck I remember was the guy with the bum leg in an 88 with a Tundra Iforce V8 sitting under the hood :D

Apparently when I think of 4Runner all I see is red... LOL.
