Nice Tim! Do you guys have any Objet machines? man, i've been fighting with ours for a few days now.. seems like they don't know much about their machines.

i noticed the mic holders too :) nice "safe" examples!

Yup, good eye Wes. With non-disclosures, I had to be sure to use parts that were "ok to show."

Marco, yes we've got a Eden 500v. You fighting the machine? or the service guys? either way, I could probably help...

just seems like i have to learn everything on my own. The service guys have prooved to be useless. I have ended up basically taking the entire machine apart to check and replace various parts. The latest has been calibrating the heads, but i finally got it figured out today so i left work a bit early as a reward. I guess it's part of it :) I may take you up on the offer to give advice in the future :)

nice to see such a highlight of your place though!

Very nice. You do have fun in your job, it shows. I do think you look best when they shoot the right side of your face. I think that was Redford's good side too, or was it the left.

That was great, Tim. You make a good spokesman. You certainly know your stuff. I really liked your summary at the end, "This is a fun business to be in. Manufacturing right here in the middle of the USA." Very cool! Made me want to come work at Protogenics!

I need to get a copy of Solidworks. It would be way cool to design some parts in 3D. I'm already pretty good with Adobe Illustrator, so I know how to work in vectors.

Wow, that's spendy. Wonder if there is an open source alternative yet, ala gimp for photoshop.

Most of what you'll ever want to design can be done with a $129 version of TurboCAD deluxe. Our really, the 30 day free trial of such.. http://www.turbocad.com/Default.aspx

TurboCAD deluxe
TurboCAD Delux is also available for OS X. Like you say Tim, more than enough for non-pros. Heck, I'd bet our ME guys only use 1/10th of what their software can do and they're modeling spacecraft enclosures for strict weigh, size, vibe, shock and thermal junk.

Google has a version that closely resembles Inventor. Like Dave said students get it for free, I just need to figure out how to put it on Linux:D
